Dear Forum Members/Readers:
My name is Anthony Alexander, and I am currently working for the St. Marcel Initiative. I help to manage selling Bishop Williamson's books and conference recordings, and I also work as an assistant doing minor tasks in support of the effort to get a new website for the Bishop launched within the next month or so.
You can see a working draft of the website that is currently under construction here:
http://www.h2bc.com/. Eventually it will be launched under the stmarcelinitiative.com and richardwilliamson.com domain names, and it will combine and replace the current sites,
www.stmarcelinitiative.com and
www.dinoscopus.org.
The reason I am writing to you is to request some help if you're able to provide it. I apologize for the length of this post but want to make sure you have the full picture.
On the new site, you will see that there is a calendar of events designed to let people know basic information about the Bishop's past and future activities. The main objective is to ensure that people who wish to attend his confirmations, Masses, conferences, or other events have the right information ahead of time, rather than finding out about it after the fact, as has too often been the case. The ancillary purpose for this events calendar, however, is to let people know -- in terms general enough to not constitute a breach of privacy or security, but specific enough to be relevant or tangible -- what His Excellency has been doing. The point is to give donors to St. Marcel some sense that their much-appreciated contributions have indeed facilitated tangible achievements -- i.e., enabling the Bishop to have brought the sacraments and doctrine to real groups of people around the globe. The additional point is to facilitate the final steps of the non-profit tax exemption process, currently underway with the IRS. When the IRS reviews St. Marcel's exemption application, they will naturally be looking at the last year or so of activity to verify that the donations contributed thus far have indeed funded the accomplishment of the Initiative's tax-exempt purpose -- i.e., bringing the Bishop to Catholics so that he can give them Catholic doctrine and sacraments. Some of this information was provided in the IRS application itself, but the IRS will independently verify that the Initiative has been pursuing its tax-exempt purpose on the basis of contributions it has received. The website will be a natural place to look to see what the last year and change of activity has been.
Unfortunately, the departure of the Bishop from the SSPX and the setup of the St. Marcel Initiative was initially so hurried that no one has been able to (or, quite honestly, bothered to -- though now we wish we had) keep a simple log of the Bishop's activities over the last year. Consequently, he's authorized us to undertake whatever efforts we can to assemble a reasonable list of his activities over the year or so.
My request to this forum is to see if anyone would be willing to help us gather this information. Whoever would like to verify the authenticity of this request may certainly check with His Excellency directly, if anyone has his email (I'm not authorized to release it), or via his administrator at dinoscopus.org (admin@dinoscopus.org).
So anyone who has organized past BpW events may get in touch with someone at the St. Marcel Initiative or to me directly (my email address is at the end of this post).
The general information we are looking for is the following (I include an example also to make it clear):
1) Event (Confirmations)
2) Date & Time (March 4, 2013, 9am)
3) Venue (St Bede's Chapel)
4) Location (Bakersfield, Calif.)
5) Contact info of organizer (Tom Jones, jones@anywhere.net) (for private use only)
Once we have those basics we can at least get them posted on the web. And if individuals are prepared to provide contact information --
which we would NOT post on the site, of course -- we can follow up with them to see if they'd be willing to share any audio or video recording that may have been made of the Bishop with the St. Marcel Initiative so that it can be made available with all the other talks and materials that the site will distribute once it's launched.
Unfortunately one of the other things that neither the Bishop nor his "staff" did at the time was get copies of each "product" (i.e. an audio or video recording) generated by His Excellency's various visits and engagements from 2012 to 2014. Naturally we're eager to feature those on the new St. Marcel site along with sermons and things from many years ago.
I very much appreciate everyone's time and consideration, and any help you might be prepared to give us in getting this information put together.
God bless you.
