I understand why the re-assignments of the superiors in the SSPX would be very newsworthy, but why all the interest with the re-assignment of priests serving various chapels?  Are these re-assignments demonstrating a pattern or some problem?  I note that I see a lot of talk about younger priests being re-assigned to various locations and duties, but what is happening with the older priests whose positions are apparently being taken by these younger priests?  Perhaps this topic is telling me but I don't know SSPX priests by name so I'm not able to catch the significance.

Some people appreciate the importance of change; others do not.

When I heard that +Williamson was leaving the Winona, MN Seminary for Argentina, there were few seminarians who understood the significance of such a change. Surprise, surprise -- I was one of them.

Even if I do say so myself, I'd suggest that I was correct. The changes began almost immediately. A rector matters. He is the leader; he sets the tone. He has real power; he is not just a figurehead. He makes many important decisions -- he changes things that people assumed were set in stone.

You can look at priests like "sacrament dispensers" in which case it makes zero difference which priest you have. But that is not how I look at them. Each one has different human qualities and abilities; some people do care what the sermons are like, etc. within reason. I say "within reason" because there are Catholic bounds to how much opinion you can have about a priest. You can PREFER this or that, or NOTICE this or that, but when it comes right down to it you can't skip Mass because of certain factors (a priest having an accent, for example).

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm not one of those people who is "picky" about priests. At least not picky enough to let it determine where I go to Mass, and certainly not picky enough to make me a home aloner.

In short, I'm only advocating "noticing" what distinguishes one priest from another -- their human qualities, superficial differences, past, training, etc. -- for big picture and philosophical reasons.

Anyhow, there is a reason I posted this in the SSPX Resistance subforum.  All these changes are not being made in a vacuum. To make sense of all of them, it helps to remember that the neo-SSPX is in the process of transformation, as well as in the process of continually reacting to the Resistance -- in some areas more than others.

So for those constantly seeking knowledge, constantly refining and adding to the clarity of their "big picture" -- there is some knowledge to be had here in these transfers.

i did not change rites, though church permits it west to east not west to east.

my studies were in eastern rites and theology

the tagling pere is from the hymn to Our Lady on Good Friday used by antiochean rites

May I inquire if you know where Father Doran is going?  He was one of the SSPX priests I most admired but I have lost contact with him.

Wow, Fr. Doran wasn't even in Long Island that long.

When did this happen? Father Doran is my priest and he just said Mass in Manhattan yesterday and said he was coming back to say Mass again in two weeks.

Almost without exception, the SSPX transfers always happen on August 15th of each year.

I still see people on this thread saying "sometime in August" and similar phrases. Apparently some are better at discerning patterns than others.
