  • Just came across this and thought it would be of interest.

An interview by Kirchliche Umschau (Church Review, a German Catholic publication) with Fr. Niklaus Pfluger, 1st Assistant General of the Society of St. Pius X, on the present situation of the Society.

Fr. Niklaus Pfluger: It is true that the Internet calls for, even requires, a new form of communication. We are obliged - just as the Vatican is - to go beyond the printed publications in use until now. But surely there are simple souls who are easily misled by sowers of discord, who themselves are widely misinformed by what they read on the Internet. Our priests appealed to the faithful not to go on these discussion sites which are often very rude, and not to let themselves be troubled and upset by the rumors and maneuverings found on the Internet. We will use the available means of communication from now on, including the Internet.

  • Yes.

Those darn Internet readers have caused the trouble!

I'm sure that is the case.

    Not!

  • What misinformed information?  So far, what is being said on the internet has been mostly fact.  These rumours have become facts.

  • Well I'm glad he didn't call us "The evil internet people"
    like Mr. Baldwin does.

Father's Phluger basically admits they miscalculated by not factoring-in the faithful's response.

The neoSSPX must be hemorrhaging.  They could stop the bleeding tomorrow,
if they expelled +Benard Fellay instead of +Richard Williamson.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

I liked what Bowler said on another thread...

    Quote
I say that the most important point in a religious fight is the pursuit of truth. Right is right even if no one is doing it. If you find yourself having to lie to win your fight, know that you are on the wrong side, you are wrong on that point.

I heard someone say, you can't lie, even to save the world. Well, I have not caught the anti-accord priests saying one lie, in fact they are totally transparent. Whereas, the Fellay Menzingen priests are all about obscurity, subterfuge, editing, tightrope walking between conciliar Rome and the SSPX laity, etc
    .

By their fruits you shall know them. The differences between the two groups is very obvious.

  • "We will use the available means of communication from now on, including the Internet."

The SSPX leadership has used the internet in times past on a regular basis to get their message out.  Apparently, we can expect something different now.

What this quote tells me is that from now on, we can expect the SSPX leadership to use any and all means of communication to effect their cause against those who oppose an accord with Rome at this time.  Internet forums have at times been invaded by troublemakers who try to create circular discussion, confuse, and derail threads.  The most obvious example is on IA where pro accord posters began their efforts months ago to great success.

I have never advocated banning someone from a forum just because they advocate something different than what I believe is true, however, media management tactics using provocateurs to destroy the forum process is altogether different.

If Menzigen crowd would be transparent, like ALL Catholics who are of truth, there would be no internet questioning. Their problem is that they are doing a tightrope act between the Lefebvre SSPX people, and Conciliar Rome. They can't say this because it'll alert conciliar Rome, but they can't say that because it'll alert the SSPX faithful, and on and on.

  • When Fr. Pfluger mentions "printed publications" I assume he includes the conciliar publications their leadership continues to use.  They tell the faithful to wait for updates from their websites which end up coming from N.O. sites (interviews) - there is a subtle message that says you can find out your info from the official SSPX news or conciliar Rome.

I guess Fr. Pfluger should expose all his supporters on the internet, so we don't confuse them as the "simple souls".http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php?a=post&s=reply&t=21072#

This comment bothers me also, Nickolas, and I concluded the same.
