  • Mg . Williamson gave a conference in the Monastery of the Holy Cross ( Brazil ) on Holy Saturday .

    Bishop W. said :

Fr Nely said at the beginning of February, with enthusiasm, to two religisosos superiors ( man and woman): " the solution to the Fraternity will be a unilateral recognition ( ... ) to see how things evolve for a while. It is without signing anything".

There will be no docuмent and no signature. Maybe this will be this spring or this summer.

Bp. Fellay wrote to one of the superiors: "The words of Fr Nely has been misunderstood because we are not thinking in an agreement." Here Bp. Fellay plays with words to deceive: there will be no agreement but will be a "recognition of tolerance."

Bp. Fellay told to the seminarians in Germany: " The agreement is excluded, we not going to sign ... but ... if Rome proposes a recognition of toleranace , it would be very different and it would be great."

  • The correct title is "Recognition of Tolerance."

Bishop Williamson said during a conference at the Holy Cross Monastery (Brazil):

    Quote
Last February, Father Nely spoke with two Superiors of Religious Communities (a Nun and a Priest) in France. He told them that the SSPX will be recognized unilaterally by Rome, ie, the romans will recognize the Society with nothing in return. There will be no agreement nor a signature will be required. (...) This agreement will take place on spring/summer this year.

Rome is offering the society an agreement ad experimentum without signature before a canonical regularization.

  • What the heck does it mean to receive a "recognition of tolerance?"

    Dear Sean:
You have to ask to Bp. Fellay or Rome.

The description carries within itself an internal contradiction:

How can Rome offer an "agreement" which is not itself a "canonical recognition?"

What is it that is being "agreed" to?

    An agreement is bilateral.
A recognition is unilateral, but if SSPX accepts, it is equivalent to an agreement of "no aggression" between Rome and FSSSX.

Are you trying to make sense of a comment from an anonymous person posted online?

Even Bp Williamson's quote would be most useful if an interested party would simply write to him requesting an English version as that quote too uses the word "agreement" to mean more than one thing.

  • It's an agreement without a signature. Everyone is friendly with everyone. If Rome calls for it and Menzingen cooperate this could come about. It is a silent way of reaching their objections. A rubber stamp approval is not technically needed to do this agreement with Rome.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...
