Dear ihsv - You win "Post of the Month ! ! "
    Official.
Excerpt:  "...I cannot accept the perspective and objectives in the name of which the Dicastery offers to resume dialogue in the present situation, nor indeed the postponement of the date of 1 July.

I respectfully present to you the reasons for this, to which I will add some supplementary considerations.

    • We both know in advance that we cannot agree doctrinally, particularly regarding the fundamental orientations adopted since the Second Vatican Council. ..."

  • The cynical part of me says that the new-sspx is putting this out there to have some PR which shows them "standing firm" against new-rome.  And then, when they consecrate bishops, these new guys will be liberal and approved by new-rome (secretly).  This will get the new-sspx laity to accept these bishops as "conservative", even when they gradually, gradually, gradually keep inching towards new-rome.

  • I liked this part:

"Finally, there is another point on which we also agree, and which should encourage us: the time separating us from 1 July is one of prayer. It is a moment when we implore from Heaven a special grace and, from the Holy See, understanding. I pray for you in particular to the Holy Ghost and—do not take this as a provocation—His Most Holy Spouse, the Mediatrix of all Graces."

"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

  • After reading this, those who support ardently the Resistance, should be able to find some balance.

We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

You are not obliged to resolve the Church’s crisis by absolutizing any faction. Your obligation is to preserve faith, reason, humility, and charity, and to refuse to make any human authority into an idol.
