We haven't discussed this in a while, but it hit me today that this issue affects the Resistance in a very real and tangible way.
If I were not as well informed, if I were somebody else at my chapel, and my only exposure to the Resistance was
A) The propaganda I hear from literature I innocently pick up (Rector's Letter, Angelus Press, SSPX.org, etc.)
B) Red-lighters at my chapel
and moreover
C) My chapel didn't have any significant or noticeable changes -- sermons still preached against V2, no attempt(s) to make peace with V2, no lapse in Catholic morals or teachings (chapel veils), etc.
I'm pretty sure I would avoid the Resistance as most people would avoid an Ebola-infested corpse.
In other words, let's put ourselves in the shoes of the average Trad Catholic of good will.
It's a good thing I understand the underlying doctrinal issues, plus I have an intimate knowledge of what has changed in the SSPX (mostly because of my past close involvement) so I am convinced with a scientific certainty of the truths the Resistance teaches. I have first-hand knowledge of Bishop Williamson and other priests involved in this SSPX crisis. But not every Catholic has this advantage.
I believe the Red-light position has tried, insofar as it lies within its power, to KILL the Resistance. Fortunately, it wasn't within its power. The Resistance has too many arguments going for it, and the SSPX has fallen in so many ways, and with so much evidence.
But think of how much better it would be if the Yellow Light position ("Caution") were held by more Resistance proponents!
Remember, the Yellow Light position does not mean that no one should leave his SSPX chapel. It just means that ALL Catholics need not leave at this time.
The Red Light position says that all Catholics of good will must leave their SSPX chapels, in all locations and in all possible circuмstances, due to issues with Bishop Fellay and/or the SSPX leadership.
