SSPX priests sermon - condemning our family for Bp. W Confirmation

I think it is important for the people on this forum to know what an SSPX priest preached from the pulpit this past Sunday. I have no desire to say anything bad about ANY priest so I will be as careful as possible and only repeat what he said in sermons in public or to us in personal meetings.  This all occured at the SSPX chapel that we have attended for over 7 years.

A little background:  We have been concerned for a while now about the direction that the SSPX is heading and my husband and I have had some very candid, honest discussions with our pastor and felt for a long time that he was really listening and perhaps shared our concerns.  After Father Pfeiffer said Mass at our home, which we were upfront with our pastor about, we were called in for a very long meeting where we were told about how bad Father Chazal and Father Pfeiffer were.  We were disappointed and stopped talking to our priest about everything after that but all remained cordial and friendly.

We drove 6 hours to Post Falls, Idaho and spent 5 days and 4 nights in two hotel rooms with 10 children (who ALL got sick) so that we could have our children confirmed by Bishop Williamson.  It was crazy, chaotic, sleepless and a wonderful privilege.  We know we did the right thing and have no regrets.   The Sunday that we were in Idaho our priest preached a sermon that compared Bishop Williamson and Father Pfeiffer to “Judaizers” and called them enemies of the Church.  We were not planning to go back, but with no other Mass options we decided to go back the next week in hopes that it would all die down and we could quietly continue at the parish.  We told only close friends about our children’s Confirmation so as not to cause problems at our parish.  The sermon the week we were there was about St. Joseph and nothing at all was said to us about anything.

We did not attend our usual chapel this Sunday but heard from the other parishioners that during the sermon, Father referred to us as a family from this parish who had their children confirmed by Bishop Williamson and compared us to illegitimate children and protestants.  He told everyone that we did it against his wishes and his command.  We never spoke to him about it at all so we did nothing against his command.  Father went on to say that the Bishop and priests involved are a disgrace.  He also said that some people don't come to Stations of the Cross on Fridays in Lent but they can go all the way to Idaho to have our children confirmed.  The chapel is 92.5 miles ($50 in gas round trip) from our house and we usually attend at least 6 times a month.  We say our Stations of the Cross as a family on Fridays in our home in front of an indulgenced crucifix.  He then said that he would be driving 6 hours on his own dime to lead the Stations this Friday and anyone who didn't come should write to his superior and ask for a new priest.  Many people were upset by his sermon.

We prayed that God would give us a clear sign if we were supposed to leave so I thank Him for answering that prayer.  My heart would have broken if that had been said in front of my already confused children.  I think they want to get rid of us so we don't cause trouble so part of me wants to go back and stir things up  to wake some people up.  Please pray for this priest.  He had a special place in our hearts for what he did for my dad as he was dying and it breaks my heart that he spoke of us this way.

Blessed be God!

I can't say I am sorry to hear this as it is expected now. You all did the right thing and should have no regrets. I will certainly pray for you all.

I have the pro-agreement Fr Angles on my case. I am not at all bothered by the fiery Spaniard.

I have taken a decision to try and get a suitable property that will facilitate the Traditional Mass. I have been praying about returning to the SSPX at Easter but feel a strong sign not to.

I like the loose network of independent priest structure.  Any priests for Ireland would be welcomed. It's strange we need to request priests in Ireland. A sign of the times.

He will build the resistance by scandalizing the faithful.

Indeed. The way bvmknight and family have been treated has strengthened the resistance.

The priest must be losing the plot or under terrible duress to be saying such things. I would just laugh at it.

Machabbes, it  is Father Johnson.

Seraphim, I agree with you and we are prayerfully deciding whether or not to return.  Please pray for us.

See, they can't really EXPEL anyone without losing their tax-exempt status, supplied jurisdiction, etc.

But making your life hell until you quit? That's another story. That they can and WILL do -- in fact they have done it in many places. It's their new modus operandi.

I agree with Seraphim -- you will do countless good by giving yourself to Christ, humbly accepting your own sufferings just as Our Lord accepted His Passion and death.

Of all the sufferings on this earth, I think it's most pleasant to be treated like Christ was, say, before Holy Thursday. He was Love and Truth itself, and look at the hatred and lies thrown at Him!

I'm sure Christ's feelings were extremely hurt by the ingratitude and hatred he met in so many quarters -- from those He loved. From His own people.

I went through something similar at my chapel, though our priest is sympathetic to the resistance. Fr. Rostand fired my wife and me from our volunteer positions at the chapel. If that's the cost of being on the side of Truth, then bring it on.

We continue to go to Mass there. Even if Father ever did the unthinkable (which I doubt he would do) and tried to expel us from the chapel, I think I'd show up several times just to help separate the sheep and the goats firmly into 2 camps. At that point, anyone against +Williamson, Fr. Pfeiffer (etc.) would have a certain measure of bad will and culpability.

Right now, God knows how much culpability they have. I've spoken with people who actually LIKED Fr. Hewko very much, but rather than consider his words, they're just "praying for him to return". They would sooner think that a holy priest has gone astray, than consider that maybe they're wrong.

Very sad.

Well stated.
