    Klas:
You've invested 19 years of your life in a corrupt/degenerate/bloated/wasteful/murder machine and you and many others like you can't even see it for what it is.  You may thump your chest with others and feel all puffed up about being in the military while "serving" your country.  Fine.  My worlds here probably won't change the way you feel about yourself and the military.  Go on believing all the military madness you want to.   One day you may just come to realize the difference between true Catholic patriotism and the evil falsification of it; a falsification of it which manifests itself in the military and by those outside the military who nevertheless feel subservient to it.

Thanks, Klas. You’ve nailed it, and your military background gives you every right to speak out. My two grandsons are in the military. One was given a full ride in Baylor’s ROTC program. The other was at Baylor too in the same program. He is now an Army Ranger. I gave him Smedley Butler’s book earlier. Did he read it? I doubt seriously that he did. I despise the American military machine, for most of the reasons which you outline. Keep up the good work. I doubt, however, that you’ll get very far with Ekim

  • Oh stop...you lady’s are killing me!  I’m laughing so hard my side hurts.

Less than 1% of those who serve on active duty identify as gαy.  Let’s not exaggerate here.  Let’s not pin that nastiness on the other 99% who serve and sacrifice with honor and distinction.  What is this, guilt by association?? I would think wise old men like yourselves would know better than that.

The military is a microcosm of society.  Just as sin exists in your own city’s towns and yes, even your own families it also exists in all branches of the military...always has...always will.

Countries have used their military for political purposes for as long as civilizations have been forming army’s...always have...always will.  So please drop this false narrative of a fantasy band of honest and Nobel warriors who never drink, spit or swear...and oh ya, lay there cloak over the mud so the damsel doesn’t soil her feet and the old lady can safely cross the street.

No organization is perfect...not your local government, not your local church, not your familial matriarchs or patriarchs, not your Priest...bishop or Pope.  Does this mean you just sit back, cry in your soup and hope things get better?....or maybe sit back behind your computer keyboard and opine about how all the world is a mess and the sky is falling?  But oh ya...you know how it all should be.

Catholic social teaching clearly teaches that every nation has the right to form an military.  There has always been wretched sinners and corrupt military leaders...but there are far, far, far more Nobel and honorable people SERVING this great nation EVERYDAY...in all corners of this world...in places you can’t even begin to imagine, protecting your ability to access whatever website you want, type whatever garbage you deem appropriate, and condemn and criticize anything you don’t agree with.

If not for these men and woman SERVING this great nation, Americans could be like North Koreans or Russians or Chinese forcefully subjected to TRUE totalitarianism.

What kind of military officer (one of the prerequisites of being an officer is a Bachelor's degree) errs in basic grammar?

    Ladies not "lady's".
From the woman came the beginning of sin, and by her we all die. ~ Ecclesiasticus 25:33

International Women's Day is a day we all celebrate Eve's rebellion at the Tree and our plummet into sin.

  • Calm down KlasG.  Your gunna blow a gasket!

I’m sorry you had such a tough time in the military and felt unappreciated, violated, and abused by a government you didn’t agree with.  I truly am.  But thank God our Military leaders continues to learn and improve from their mistakes.

I’m sure your experience has hardened you in many ways. I hope and pray that you will find peace and forgiveness in your heart.

    Welcome home!

    Welcome home!

What have you been smoking Ekim?

I never said or even implied that I had a tough time in the military.  In point of fact, I was a high achiever and greatly excelled; that's why I got accepted into OCS and became a 2nd Lt. at Quantico at the age of 20 and ended up a 1st Lt. leading an entire rifle platoon in Nam and being officially awarded for valor in the process.

I never said or implied that I was unappreciated, violated, or abused by my government.  No way Jose.  I was all puffed up and sinning all over the place.  My government via the military affirmed me in my sins by their brothels, strip shows, and heavy drinking ethos just to name a few.  Yeah, I was young, "free," and stupid -- that's for sure.  And pretty much everyone around me seemed to be about the same way.  We were serving ourselves, not our country, regardless of what people like you or the lying politicians would have us and others believe.

You continue: "But thank God our Military leaders continues [sic] to learn and improve from their mistakes."  Oh really!  How so?  It looks like our bloated arrogant military has carried its consistent mistake (too put it way too kindly) making to a state of the art.

It would appear that your experience has made you either willfully ignorant, full of cognizant dissonance, downright malicious or a combination of the aforesaid.

If you are full of pride as you would appear to be from what you have said in your posts, I hope you lose it.  It blinds the intellect and potentially leads us into every vice whether we admit it or not.

Those Nobel warriors are the ones who defend the Alfred E. Nobel dynamite dynasty. In contrast to noble warriors, that is.
Consequently there are two kinds of people, the honorable people, and the Nobel people.

    .
Apparently ignorance of basic spelling and grammar are fostered in the armed forces, from what I've seen emerging therefrom.

  • Every Country should place itself Under "The Rights of Christ The King " There are "JUST WARS " ie : The Crusades, Unbeknown to most of us. All the American Wars from the beginning have been financed by Jєωs and Masons and Communists. WWII was purposely started to give the Jєωs a homeland that was artificially set up by the uk and the us. In the end times the Jєωs were supposed to migrate toward israel slowly, The zionists hurried the process up by filling israel with false khazar Jєωs, making the true decendants of Moses that had already lived there second class citizens. The Orthodox Rabbi's know this is true and are constantly at odds with the zionists who are in control. The zionists want to usher in their messiah who will be the antichrist. After what America did to our men in WWI, WWII  KOREA  VIETNAM, Leaving thousands still captured after these wars I would never allow a son or daughter to fight for America unless our Homeland was being directly attacked. We need to go back to the Monroe Doctrine and leave the rest of the world to fight their own battles. Henry Kissinger should be in jail along with alot of them that sold out our men. Just my two bits thrown out there. Just to set the record straight I was U.S.A. . I thank all our military for their sacrifices. "GOD BLESS " I have read Smedly Butler, why wasn't Prescott Bush put in jail or shot ? never mind, He was a preview of what was to come with the rest of the Bush's  GEORGE SR, took part in killing JFK. George jr. did 911 on us with Israel and Saudi help and Jeb well he's just a lump on a log.

  • Speaking of just wars:  In American history has the US ever participated in a just war as defined by the Catholic Church?  Tens of thousands, maybe millions, of American Catholics have fought in wars either started or engaged in by their country.  Apparently, the Church has never provided assurances one way or the other.  Comments?

Great question Holly!  I strongly suspect the answer is most sadly a reverberating, NO.  That said, the modern war mongers including most lamentably the Catholic ones, will often try to justify their unjust and insane/inane/asinine/criminal perpetual wars for perpetual "peace" garbage by simply dismissing the Catholic Just War Doctrine saying that it has for the longest time been outdated and thus no longer relevant/applicable.  Instead they push perpetual lies for the perpetual peace of satan, a peace, which comes from hell and leads back to hell.

By the way, those military recruiters would never lie would they?  Of course not!  Just ask them who really planned, executed, and covered up the truth about 9-11 and what the purpose for 9-11 was.  No doubt, they will tell you the full official lie and nothing but the lie so help them satan.  If they told potential enlistees the truth they would lose their recruiting assignments faster than Bp. Williamson lost his post at La Reja for telling an inconvenient truth.

Lamentably, one may argue, the “modern war mongers,” including, alas, the Catholic ones, have not behaved, it seems, any differently than the not so modern war mongers. Almost the entire history of our country, when the Catholic Church might still have been thought to have better enforced that Doctrine, fails to provide a single example of a classic ‘Just War.’ Was the American Revolutionary War a just war? Was the cινιℓ ωαr a just war? Was the Spanish/American war just by Catholic standards? Were WWI and WWII justified under Catholic Just War provisions? How about Vietnam, Iraq, and Libya, not to mention our Syrian involvement, and nearly 18 years in Afghanistan? I look in vain for a just war, conducted under the auspices of the US govt. that in any way meets the criteria of a Just War as defined by the Church. Maybe I don’t understand the Just War Doctrine properly. But it appears that very few, if any, such wars have been fought. The JWD was outdated, not relevant or applicable from the start. Someone educate me further, and tell me what I’m missing.

  • The link provided by Cosmas, summarizing Just War principles, serves, I think, only to reinforce my position with regard to American wars. Just take the last item in that link:

    Quote
The use of force must distinguish between the militia and civilians. Innocent citizens must never be the target of war; soldiers should always avoid killing civilians. The deaths of civilians are only justified when they are unaviodable victims of a military attack on a strategic target.
One need only look at, for example, the bombing of Dresden and Hamburg by combined American and British forces. Tens of thousands of innocent German civilians lost their lives needlessly from those saturation bombardments. What about the blanket bombing of the Cambodian countryside by American B52s during the Vietnam conflict? What about the indiscriminate dropping of white phosphorous bombs on Baghdad; the blockade of Iraq by the US, resulting in the deaths of a half million children? For that matter, touching the Iraq “war,” what business did we have invading Iraq to begin with? Iraq bore no responsibility at all for 911. (But certainly, our good ally Saudi Arabia did.) Saddam, as we knew quite well, had no WMDs. It goes on and on.
I don’t see one item in this summary of Just War provisions that would have justified US involvement in most, if not all, of its military adventurism abroad, (and maybe even at home), from the very inception of our country. It’s a hard and sad conclusion to draw for an American citizen in the twilight of his earthly life. But that conclusion is almost inescapable and unavoidable now.
