  • I read in another thread that several sermons have been given about impurity and the Internet.

Our priest got back from the annual Priests Meeting in Winona a few weeks ago, and he talked about it a bit before his sermon.

He said one of the main themes was attacking impurity, impure vices, and the Internet -- apparently it's a big problem among SSPX parishioners.

He also said they told some priests to be more strict, and others to back off a bit. Apparently this part is routine.

  • Re: "the Internet"

I know what many of you are thinking, but as far as I could tell this wasn't another attack on "forums" -- at least my priest didn't make it sound like it was.

It sounded like the District HQ is concerned about the large number of SSPX men with vices related to "sixth & ninth".

  • It wouldn't be too bad an idea to pray for the intercession of St. Maria Goretti.
    Matthew 6:34
" Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof."

  • They should start a devotion to St. Joseph, through his cord.  Information found in the Tan booklet:  https://tanbooks.benedictpress.com/index.php/Favorite-Prayers-to-St-Joseph

The cords have to be properly blessed, with incense. Some SSPX priests are lazy in this blessing and omit the incense. Find a willing priest to propertly bless the cords and a willing parishioner to make them. Cords should be of white cotton.  St. Joseph is great.

  • Also, it's bogus to blame the internet, when the world, in general, is filled with these images. Go to St. Joseph, he will make these images seem repugnant to you.  I'm not a guy, but I know guys who have taken-up the devotion and it worked for them. Works for women, too, but we are less effected by the visuals to begin with.

  • I'm not saying that purity should not be promoted, but how do they collect this data in order to determine that it is a problem?

I'm a little more than uncomfortable that a private counseling session, or confessions, might be prompting this subject material.

I've heard sermons about purity which were excellent for mixed company and ages, but I would hate to be forced out of the room during a sermon, taking children with me, if the content was too specific. Many families that I know with children have no clue about these thing, other than to look away from immodesty. I think that even some descriptions would be too much, because these children are so pure that they really have no idea. Why risk giving them ideas?

  • If my father could have controlled that point, I would have been a boy. He had 5 sons and wanted his last to be another boy! I can fish and hunt because my father decided to make the best of the situation, much to the dismay of my mother! Such is life. :scratchchin:

Like one priest said, don't over-react to the situation. It's like teaching your children manners, such as when they pick their noses - just calmly pull the hand away . . . obviously, crying to our Lady and St. Joseph for help on this matter, too. If you don't, you will have to answer for it . . . not just your children.

I had a weird experience recently, visiting a non-Catholic family. The children, all under the age of 7 (age of reason), seemed drawn to impurity. I came away thinking that they might be possessed (for other reasons, too); but, I was shocked to see the level of impurity between the brother and sister.

In my case, it's devotion to Our Lady, but yes, I'd say it's possible to be repulsed by loose women and filth in general.

In other words, I'm not even *tempted* by slutty women, thanks to some kind of grace or training, I don't know what.

I'm not saying I never have to watch myself -- but let's just say I'm only attracted to women with these traits: long skirts, natural beauty, modesty, femininity, etc.

Personally, I never understood the attraction of men to women who dress with skirts up to here and pants so tight, you can tell the brand of underwear . . . it's not just their manner of dressing, but their mannerisms, in general. The games they play, too. They wear the stuff to seduce and then, when a man reacts, they make him feel like he's wearing x-ray glasses . . . he doesn't even need to . . .

This I am sure will be good.  With how easy to access the internet is (wifi everywhere, smart phones, tablets etc.) and how prevalent impurity is on the internet, these types of reminders I am sure will do much good (and not just for men).  Didn't Our Lady at Fatima say that more sinners went to hell for sins against impurity than any others, and that was back in the 1920s, things are an order of magnitude worse now.

And St. Dymphna, where persistent indulgence in these acts leads to madness!
