  • Youtube description attached to a sermon extract of Bishop Williamson by Stephen Joyner:

"Souls want to go to hell. Souls want to turn God's religion upside down." This one minute excerpt is from a full length 33 minute recording of a SSPX resistance sermon in Kansas Easter Sunday 21st April 2019 uploaded by Youtube channel Vanessa Higdon on 12Jul2019. This excerpt is uploaded to my channel to encourage my subscribers to watch the full 33 min video at https://youtu.be/3OYhEfh-JuY

Vanessa comments on her Youtube channel:

Bishop Williamson Easter morning 2019, in Emmett Kansas. First part of film we put the camera low because the Bishop was criticizing electronics. then we raised the camera and received some great footage. It is so worth watching and hearing.

  • What a magnificent sermon of divine power this is:

“It is not a question of numbers.  It is a question of Truth.”

Many thanks for this, good Brother Joseph.

    DEO GRATIAS.

  • The sermon appears to be complete.

Vanessa however has posted part one of a conference at

and that would suggest that more may be coming.

  • Thanks!  If you really search, there are many conferences oof Bp. W. on line, some dating from the early 1990s or earlier.  I'm sort of piecing them together to make a summer seminar of sorts, taking notes like a class.  Maybe I'll make a test and send it to H. E.!   :incense:

  • Our problem is this. We have always followed Bp W. and listened closely to him. But now, in recent years, with regard to the neo-sspx, he seems to be lagging behind. Whereas, my wife and I gave up on sspx years ago, and left it far behind, the good bishop still lingers nostalgically about its precincts, and continues to hold out hope for its recovery. Why does he, seemingly, long for the ‘leeks and garlic’ of a neo-sspx? We we see it as totally failed and lost, and try to plod on towards a better Promised Land? He feels that there is still a glimmer of hope for this fallen apostolate, which at one time thrived under the leadership of the Archbishop. He seems to see a struggling organization on the brink of total collapse, but not quite there yet. We view that collapse as a fait accompli. SSPX has been virtually handed over to Rome, and has just become one more glittering rhinestone in the crown of the New Order.
It is not a comfortable position to be in. It is not easy for us to veer off from an excellent bishop, whom we have always deeply admired. But what else can we do in the face of the uncertain and vacillating course which we feel the bishop has set? How can there be a true “Resistance,” if its past is not utterly cut off from that which it resists?

Hollingsworth, you are absolutely correct from a philosophical standpoint, and I'm sure +Williamson agrees with you.  But practically, +Williamson has to be concerned with souls, who need Mass and the sacraments.  Though the new-sspx is headed for disaster, the train has not yet fully gone off the rains.  Until they completely sell out to new-rome, or until they cross the line into unabashed modernism/heresy, then those who have no other options for mass/sacraments must make use of what little orthodoxy that the new-sspx still has.  Bickering over a group or philosophy takes a back seat to real-life concerns over 1,000s of souls.

  • ^^ Agreed.

Ideals and reality are not aligned for many people. We do the best we can. I don't think it hurts to recognize the new direction of the SSPX and disagree with it while also recognizing the good of individuals. Being hardened and bitter and demonizing isn't going to help, so if the bishop wants to express his goodwill by holding out a glimmer of hope, so be it. Considering many have not given him any courtesies of good will, I find it to be an inspiring example.

It’s nice to be told that I’m correct about something, and that +W probably agrees with me. The explanation you provide for the bishop’s leniency may be true. I’ll not dispute it. We got much the same defense of W’s position every time the matter was brought up in the past.

I do, however, have to wonder that so many priests have left the sspx, including at least two of +W’s own consecrated bishops. Did they not realize how many thousands of souls still needed “valid” Mass and Sacraments? Did they not realize the practical “real-life concerns” of these souls? Yet, aside from the numbers of priests, who were summarily cast out of the Society, the ones who left of their own accord,(and are still leaving), these concerns, in the end, did not sway their decisions. It did not prevent them from abandoning these needy souls. Some of them, at least, may have concluded that sspx Masses and Sacraments were not that vital for the spiritual maintenance of these same souls; or, one would think, they would have tried to hold out a little longer, even under the stultifying and oppressive conditions of a Fellay-led organization.
