  • Has anyone heard of the purpose for this visit?  No Confirmations were given but Bishop Fellay, Fr. LaRoux and Fr. Wegner were all there.  It just seems unusual to me.

  • It's an SSPX chapel.  I guess I should have been more explicit.

It seems to make sense if he traveled to Canada for Father Gruner's funeral the day before, that he would visit with the US District Superior.  I presumed he'd be making some rounds.

But that he would visit the U.S. DS on the west coast?  That he would have to fly 3000 expensive miles to Arcadia to visit with the DS and Fr. LaRoux, both of whom are normally stationed in the midwest much closer by? That he was so pressed for time that he couldn't preside at the graveside after the Fr. Gruner funeral Mass? Most of Arcadia is high rent, filled with people who have lots of money.... Oh, never mind, some of my questions may have been answered.

  • Bishop Fellay's visit to Arcadia would be to visit with Fr. Cooper who is dying or very ill. Other priests have also made the trip to see him.

Thank you for that explanation.  Perhaps that is the reason that all three: Bishop, District Superior and Seminary Rector were there.  Father Cooper must, indeed, be very ill.

I see.  All the honchos flew out to visit Fr. Cooper, who is dying.  Bp. F would have stayed to put the final graveside touches on Fr. Gruner's burial.   But because he cared so deeply about this priest, and indeed, about all of his priests. H.E. feared that he might miss the final moments with him, as did the Seminary Rector and that the compassionate Fr. Wegner.  Yep, makes sense to me.
