Letters sent without signatures, anonymous emails, and posts on websites using pseudonyms are not done by men of fortitude and conviction in the truth. They are the acts of cowards, who like the mythological figure Eris, only seek to attain their goals - however noble they may be - through chaos.

Further, and as we have touched on before, we cannot support this passive-aggressive and disrespectful method of "correcting" the Sovereign Pontiff. While privacy and confidentiality are not without their place, hiding behind a computer screen has, unfortunately, become an accepted method of public discource.  

Sean Johnson makes a good catch here: more clear-cut evidence of a change in the SSPX.


As many have stopped reading SSPX.org, I wanted to bring to your attention a short article which appeared there on February 16, titled "Satire: A New Way To Combat The Crisis?" (http://sspx.org/en/news-events/news/satire-new-way-combat-the-crisis)

The article begins by observing 200 posters of the brooding Pope Francis which recently appeared plastered around Rome, saying:

"Ah Francis, you have intervened in Congregations, removed priests, decapitated the Order of Malta and the Franciscans of the Immaculate, ignored Cardinals... but where is your mercy?”

After decrying the anonymity of the authors, the article proceeds to question whether satire is a proper way to combat the crisis in the Church, and particularly, satire directed to the person of the Pope:

"Further, and as we have touched on before, we cannot support this passive-aggressive and disrespectful method of "correcting" the Sovereign Pontiff."

But the SSPX must have selective amnesia, because who can forget this:

The pre-branded SSPX made good and highly effective use of satire, to accentuate the errors of the conciliar orientations.  

Surely Menzingen cringes at the remembrance of these famous cartoons today, and not just because they have reformed themselves for the sake of accepting an accord with unconverted Rome, but also because the contrast between the recent article denouncing satire, and the satirical cartoons pastd above highlight but one more contradiction and change of mentality in the neo-SSPX.

The barking dog has been made into a lap dog, neutered, and well heeled.

And while it now seems likely that the tight leash will necessitate a relocation from Menzingen to Rome (i.e., A tactic designed to guarantee "Romanitas" continues to work it's magic on the psyches of the Society's compromised leaders), the Orweillian leadership of the SSPX continues to make a show of demanding their rights, and insisting Rome "take is as we are."

But unless you are exceptionally stupid (or just plain dishonest), the present issue of satire demonstrates in just one more recent example that the SSPX is not being accepted as they are, but rather "as they have become."

I wanted to share with the rest of you an intelligent response I received to the previous email titled "No Conciliar Infection" (below):

The reader observes that it was Archbishop Lefebvre himself making use of satire when he actually sent the two cartoons directly to Pope John Paul II personally:

"See Bp W Rector Letters 41 & 42:

Holy Father,

Be so good as to meditate on these two pictures, since you are deaf to the anguished appeals which we have filially addressed to you. Deign at least not to offend gravely and in public against God's First Commandment: the salvation of your soul is at stake! Preach Jesus Christ, as did the Apostles, even at the cost of their lives. That is the fervent and filial wish of those who still remain Catholic.

Marcel Lefebvre,

Bishop Emeritus of Tulle."

The same reader makes this further observation, in response to SSPX.org's assertion that anonymity is cowardly:

"The irony of that article is that, as most articles on the sspx site, it is written anonymously. Non Possumus pointed that out but I had the same thought after reading that article."

It is reassuring to know that at least some men have not been lulled to sleep!

And while Menzingen now plays the "good cop" in defense of the Francis papacy, who can forget Bishop Fellay's own words on the matter in his famous Letter #63 to Friends and Benefactors:

"So little by little the will to fight grows weaker and finally one gets used to the situation. In Campos itself, everything positively traditional is being maintained, for sure, so the people see nothing different, except that the more perceptive amongst them notice the priests' tendency to speak respectfully and more often of recent statements and events coming out of Rome, while yesterday's warnings and today's deviations are left out."
