  • This is troubling. I have heard it before, though.

A relative just told me that she spoke with an acquaintance who goes to an SSPX Mass. They have a new priest, and he was ordained in the Novus Ordo. This person directly asked the priest about whether he was conditional ordained. The "priest" said that he requested to be, but that Bp. Fellay said it was not necessary.

I know they used to at least conditionally ordain if it was requested; now they accept all Novus Ordo ordinations. I expect next we will here they will no longer conditionally confirm.

This is no surprise as the neo-SSPX leadership moves closer towards the Novus Ordo everyday.

    Yes, same here.
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

  • We need to find actual evidence of this. Hearsay on an internet forum is not good enough.

Can you recall in regard to which priest? That would help set the date of concern.

I do not know the priest's name but I heard that a former Novus Ordo priest was living at the Ridgefield retreat house and was not conditionally ordained. I also heard rumors that the SSPX does not always conditionally ordain Novus Ordo priests but I do not remember any names.

That would be a monsignor formerly of the Archdiocese of New York. He recently spoke at the SSPX Angelus Conference.

I was under the impression that they investigated his ordination and everything checked out.

  • When I started attending traditional Masses in 2005, I thought the Mass was a community celebration; basically a love-in with a commemoration of the Last Supper. Then, at a catechism class given by Fr. Michael Weiner of the Institute of Christ the King, I heard that the Mass is a Sacrifice. I had no idea what he was talking about. The reason was that the Novus Ordo does not ordain Sacrificing priests, and they do not have any intention of doing so. That is why NO ordinations are invalid.

I asked this personally from Fr. Paul Kramer himself. I'll let himself answer this. You can of course ask this to him in Facebook or by whatever means. Even Bishop Richard Williamson and Fr. Francois Chazal all agreed that the Rev. Father's ordination is valid and he is an "exemption" to the rule. Yes. I asked this personally and in person to both.

  • Nowhere does he state that he was not ordained in the New Rite.  If he was ordained in the New Rite, well, I'll beg to differ whether there's any positive doubt about his validity.
