I just checked today's Resistance Chapel topic on the forum here, and Father Hewko on Dec. 27 celebrated Mass at the same location Fr. Voigt visited for three days last weekend.

Any insights?

  • It is because of a conflict between those in Boston and Father Voigt. This conflict is one that has personally affected me, as I support those on both sides of the conflict. I am holding out hope for an amiable solution to the problems.

I dislike conflicts, especially those between priests.

Of course you do--Mr. Rogers would not approve of conflict.

  • I cannot speak for the coordinator in Syracuse, as I come in from out of town for Mass there, but the situation is not really different than when Fr. Voigt was still associated with the SSPX-MC. After Fr. Voigt left Kentucky on his own fruition, the lies came from Pablo about why Fr. Voigt was no longer in Boston. The conflict was not caused by Fr. Voigt.

My assumption was that Fr. Pfeiffer no longer came to Syracuse because Fr. Voigt was still invited back in the off weeks that the SSPX-MC couldn't come to town and Fr. Pfeiffer had a problem with this? Who knows. There's no reason why the priests could not work out a schedule conducive to more frequent Masses for the Faithful in Syracuse. It appears Fr. Hewko was able to work something out. He was already only a couple hours away, to visit family/say Mass, and Syracuse is on the way back.

Fr. Voigt seems to have no problem with Fr. Hewko coming into town to provide Mass.

The issues that remain between Boston, KY and Fr. Voigt should not get in the way of the Sacraments being brought to the Faithful in Syracuse. Fr. Voigt is as much a Resistance priest as any other and it's not always about picking sides.

  • This appears to me (who knows nothing about this particular situation) to be an improvement. A very recent report from a different location was that the laypeople had to choose between irregular Mass from Fr. Voigt or irregular Mass from OLMC, but not both. If it's possible for multiple priests to bring the sacraments to the people of Syracuse on different weeks without butting heads, that's great news.
