  • First, some background:
I am a cradle Catholic.  I grew up Novus Ordo, and stopped attending Mass during high school except when it was held at school and we were required to go(although I went to an NO Catholic high school).  At the time, the N.O. just seemed silly and irrelevant to me.  Once I got into my early 20's, I started popping back into N.O. Masses occasionally and praying the Rosary.  Our Blessed Mother, thanks be to God, led me to tradition.  I was teaching at a Novus Ordo school when I started to attend the local SSPX chapel.  I quit teaching at the NO school shortly thereafter.  Now I attend SSPX Masses and, very rarely, when out of town my grandmother's "cottage", go to a local SSPV chapel for Sunday Mass.  I was married last year by a fantastic priest last year (the last SSPX priest ordained by Archbishop Lefebvre in the US).  The marriage instruction my wife and I received was absolutely fantastic.

That whole background was somewhat off topic, I know, but I never really did an introduction here.  Anyways, I am interested in the similarities and differences in what happened in the early 80's with "The 9" (who split and later became the SSPV and split again and again from there) and what is happening now with the Resistance.  It seems, to me, that they had accused Archbishop Lefebvre of many of the same things that the Resistance accuses the SSPX of (not conditionally ordaining priests, "compromising" with Modernist Rome, etc.)

I've only been a "traditional" Catholic for a few years, and try to focus on things like saying the Rosary, attending Mass, going to Confession, doing spiritual reading, etc. instead of getting into the politics of the whole thing.  That being said, any insight would be appreciated.

I'm not looking for a "YOU IDIOT, THIS IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!! CAN'T YOU SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL???" responses.  I am looking for, hopefully, an opportunity learn.

    Thanks!!!
