Solzhenitsyn said that in the USSR, because the media was controlled by one central authority, the people could easily recognize the lies. However, in the West, because everyone can lie, it is very difficult for the people to know the truth. He said that in the West, one person would wrote something bad about his writings, without ever having read the book, and then everyone else quoted the lie, and added their own further lies.
One of the criteria for being hired as a Sociology professor is to demonstrate
your ability to denounce
Solzhenitsyn first as a person (
ad hominems)
and then in his writings, but to downplay the writings so as to discourage the
students from reading him. Try to find a sociology graduate who ever read the
works of Solzhenitsyn. It seems you have to hold contempt for his very name
before you can get a degree in that nonsense major. Oh, they will SAY they
read him, but when you ask more specifically, you'll find that what they read is
actually someone else writing ABOUT him, and paraphrasing his words, in order
to ridicule him.
It's one of the
errors of Russia, and it's being used against +Williamson!
His ECs are his own private battle against the calumnies. I'm always amused to
find those who are disrespectful of H.E. are not familiar with Dinoscopus. And
when I offer them an email sample copy or even a print-out of a recent one,
they are not interested. It's the
anti-Solzhenitsyn complex at work in our time!
They tried to do the same thing with Cardinal Mindzenty but he was much too
popular already. They had to wait for him to die. And his memory, too. But his
memory still lives on, in the hearts and minds of his countrymen, and in the hearts
and minds of those who are willing to learn.
These are great men for homeschoolers to study!

Padre Pio
The kids going through public schools will not have heard a thing about them.
I tried to talk to some Coptic Orthodox about how Padre Pio appeared to a
pilot of an Allied bomber who was going to drop his bomb before landing, and
he was over Pietrelcina at the time. They did not believe it. Then I told them
that Padre Pio had the stigmata, the only priest in the history of the Church
to have it, and they refused to believe that, too. They said, "No one but Jesus
Christ ever had those marks." But then they told me about a Christian leader
who demonstrated to the Moselms that his God was true, by making a mountain
rise up off the ground, so the sun could be seen underneath it. And the
mountain went up, and slammed down, then went up, and down, and up and
down, and the Moslems cried out to "Make it Stop!!!" So I didn't give them
a hard time about that, but no matter. They still refused to accept my
description of Padre Pio. Very interesting.
I was an outsider. I was in their territory. They wanted me to accept their
doctrine and they refused to listen to my testimony. So +Fellay thinks he's
going to waltz into NewRome and have them listen to what he has to say???
The Coptic Orthodox have beautiful pictures and artwork. They have delicious
food and a very pleasant manner. But they want nothing to do with Catholic
doctrine, if it isn't already part of their own.
Bishop Williamson said to Cardinal Hoyos, "Your peanuts are nice, your
crackers are nice, you Cognac is nice, but we have two different religions."
