  • Very nice pictures.  Everyone forgive me for being an absolute idiot, but what is the deal with the man with the white skullcap and black robe?

Nota bene: I am absolutely NOT suggesting anything improper.  I'm sure he has a very good reason for wearing that cap.  Nor am I suggesting that the man is, ahem, of the Stock of Abraham.  Furthest thing from my mind.  At a Mass celebrated by HE Bishop Williamson, not hardly.  (Though anyone of that stock, wishing to accept Christ as Lord and Messiah, and render Him the worship due to Him, would be most welcome, as was the prodigal son, and I think His Excellency would be the first to echo that sentiment.)

The Bishop is Bishop Faure not Williamson.

The monk with the skull cap appears to be a Domincan, although I do not know what the significance of the cap is for a monk.

    It’s a zucchetto.

All priests were required to wear some kind of head covering until Paul VI abolished the law by motu proprio in 1968.  Zucchettos were common until then (outside the Americanist-Protestantized USA, anyway)

Most priests wore black, but Dominicans and Norbertines could also wear white (as St. Pius V, a Dominican, did).
Rom 5: 20 - "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more."
