Those are the words of a man creating sects and divisions within a group. You are literally lining up 2 different groups of bishops against each other, exaggerating differences of opinion into bad blood, grudges, dug-in positions and permanent divisions. "You're with us, or with them!"
That is not serving the Church or the Body of Christ -- it is serving the cause of the devil.
You know, I was somewhat neutral to the "new crop" of bishops consecrated by +Williamson, during the panic and uncertainty of the COVID years.
But with behavior like this, I feel compelled to dig in my own feet against this kind of sectarianism and division.
It's why I oppose "sedevacantism" as an identity. I don't oppose the opinion itself so much, or the individuals who hold that opinion -- just the UNNECESSARY DIVISION some proponents of Sedevacantism cause within the Traditional Movement. That is what I oppose. The idea that "plain vanilla" Trad chapels aren't enough, that you need another adjective "sedevacantist" to be a "real" Trad Catholic. That I oppose with all my being, and always will.
Matthew. Literally am not a sedevacantist. I have told you that multiple times. Neither are many of the Bishops and indeed most resistance faithful
This is a slur (and a bad one at that because I am not against them per se), by certain cultish people in the resistance who want us all in groups. Which Bishop Williamson warned would be dangerous for us. I'm not saying you are using as a slur, but certain people do.
The bitterness, the anger, that all comes from corners which Fr. Brocard is now vocalizing. It's buried under there. Many of us have seen it for years. Including Bishop Williamson. A certain camp who were never happy with Bishop Williamson being the the sole decider of who gets to be consecrated. A bit like the camp within the SSPX who never really agreed with Archbishop Lefebvre doing the 88 consecrations. Always hearkening to the past but in a disordered way. Unwilling to just grow up.
The only division is from the people who have come out and are "disassociating" from us. I am merely pointing it out. They made the first move. Notice how the four Bishops I named are staying quiet. Because they want this to be resolved. They want peace. But certain others do not. They want control. They will name call, subvert. Hide in dark corners.
I am the only one on here cathinfo vocalizing this. Bothering to take time out of my day to say it. But you are most welcome to go write to people. To the Bishops, to the priests. Anyone wants to I'll give you their emails. Don't believe me. Go ask them folks. Make your own mind up.
Division is sad. I know many people are watching all this drama and scandalized by it. Many are wondering now if they should keep going to certain Masses. I just tell them to pray, pray, pray. Discern.
But you know what's also sad and scandalous? When certain clergy go around telling people that the 62 is the only true traditional Mass you can attend. That priests who say it are crypto sedevacantists. Or even that simply having sedevacantist views is evil. That there's something wrong with priests who are not in the SAJM. That's all very sad, scandalous, and if I'm being very honest, just downright sinful. And those people started saying that first. Those were the ones who brought this all into the public light. So it's not just fair game that it be questioned, it is right and just that it be.
