  • 1 Cor. 12:10 (not 2:10) for God's acknowledgement of prophets inspired by the Holy Ghost in the Mystical Body of Christ (not just Old Testament). …

Sorry for quoting the wrong verse.

That said 1 Cor 12:10 still does not support your inference.

    Quote
To another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the discerning of spirits; to another, diverse kinds of tongues; to another, interpretation of speeches.

Not news. No binding. No "third" type of revelation. Just kindergarten catechism.

Thessalonians for the binding to believe them, and the Council for matching the proven prophets with the obligation.…

At the risk of repeating myself re 1 Thess 5:20-21…

No news. Do not reflexively reject private revelation, but be skeptical—prove those "things" and hold those things that are "good." How do we know what is good? Comparison with what is publicly revealed—in Scripture and Magisterium.

    Non-controversial.

At the risk of coining a phrase, I'm going to say you are "invincibly unconvincing" on this one.

Your inference is your private interpretation.

Charity's example is solid. The priest would either face palm himself or laugh that penitent out of the box.

P.S. Everyone in our family is on board with First Saturdays even though we are not bound.

  • Correction should be without name-calling.  One exception, when one in authority rebukes and corrects another where there is willful ill-intent.  Example; Our Lord called the Pharisees and scribes whited sepulchres and hypocrites, Herod, a fox, etc.  St. Paul corrected St. Peter, the Pope, in public, but he refrained from name-calling.

  • The prophecies of Fatima were approved by an official act of the Church under Pius XI's express consent in 1930.  The pope's exercise of his apostolic authority determines what Catholics must believe, not personal remarks by scandalous successors.

The Church allows people to believe in private revelations, that's it. So Pius XI gave people permission to believe in the prophecies of Fatima. He absolutely did not tell anyone they had to believe in them.

This is a common misapprehension in the traditional Catholic world.

  • To at least two Resistance priests I have confessed negligence of the Rosary on certain days, both of whom reacted with seriousness.  One Resistance priest asked me, without prompting, if I had been faithful to the daily Rosary, counseling and emphasizing to me it's necessity.

The binding is not given in Colossians, but in Thessalonians.  The Council defines that we know "what is good" by the examination of the pope, not our comparison with other sources of revelation.

The Archbishop often referred to the churchmen as "apostates".  We are forbidden to judge our neighbors as guilty of subjective sin, and also forbidden to mince words when describing objectively horrific acts.

I agree the recitation of the rosary is necessary, but I would not say it is absolutely necessary.

We were told in one sermon that the rosary is the meat and potatoes of our prayer life, and I agree, but the Church has not bound the laity to recite the rosary, under pain of mortal sin.

The Secret of the Rosary by St. Louis de Montfort

    (pg. 17-18)

    Quote
    Fifth Rose: Confraternity

Strictly speaking, there can be only one kind of Confraternity of the Rosary, that is, one whose members agree to say the entire Rosary of 150 Hail Marys every day. However, considering the fervour of those who say it, we may distinguish three kinds: Ordinary Membership, which entails saying the complete Rosary once a week; Perpetual Membership, which requires it to be said only once a year; Daily Membership, which obliges one to say it all every day, that is, the fifteen decades made up of 150 Hail Marys. None of these oblige under pain of sin. It is not even a venial sin to fail in this duty because such an undertaking is entirely voluntary and supererogatory. Needless to say, people should not join the Confraternity if they do not intend to fulfil their obligation by saying the Rosary as often as is required, without, however, neglecting the duties of their state in life. So whenever the Rosary clashes with a duty of one's state in life, holy as the Rosary is, one must give preference to the duty to be performed. Similarly, sick people are not obliged to say the whole Rosary or even part of it if this effort might tire them and make them worse. If you have been unable to say it because of some duty required by obedience or because you genuinely forgot, or because of some urgent necessity, you have not committed even a venial sin. You will then receive the benefits of the Confraternity just the same, sharing in the graces and merits of your brothers and sisters in the Rosary, who are saying it throughout the world. And, my dear Catholic people, even if you fail to say your Rosary out of sheer carelessness or laziness, as long as you do not have any formal contempt for it, you do not sin, absolutely speaking, but you forfeit your participation in the prayers, good works and merits of the Confraternity. Moreover, because you have not been faithful in things that are little and of supererogation, almost without knowing it you may fall into the habit of neglecting big things, such as those duties which bind under pain of sin; for "He that scorns small things shall fall little by little."

    2 Corinthians 4:3-4

And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

It is good these priests took your admission seriously. We could call this spiritual direction in the Confessional. It was not however a sin that he absolved you of. He meant no doubt that is generally advisable, though not essential.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • One may argue against the absolute necessity of the Rosary for the generation of St. Louis de Montfort.  Such cannot be said of us, to whom the Mother of God commanded, "Recite the Rosary every day!"
