FirebalXLS, it took a lot of courage to speak up back then. I remember back in the late '90's when the scandals were breaking in the Los Angeles Times about Card. "Millstone" Mahoney's cover ups--which nobody talked about, as if they weren't happening! It took people like you to expose the cockroaches to the light.
And Hollingsworth--did I not make it clear that I was going to exclusively attend the SSPX? I was talking about Bp. F. and the "neo" SSPX being acceptable as long as they weren't novus ordo, etc.--NOT Fr. P.! (There I was also including sermons by Fr. Ripperger and Fr. Wolfe of the FSSP. I know that the FSSP has, technically, "sold out" to Rome, but I am no longer as "pure" as I was before, living in such a godforsaken place.)
Please read more carefully before you go off on me. You skipped the part where I said I hadn't been to a Fr. P. Mass for months (ever since I learned about the Fr. T. info--again, from this forum).
As far as Fr. P. himself is concerned, I had heard about Pablo and the problems in "KFC" less than a year ago (and had my own run-in with him), and figured it was just a matter of bad judgement. And, giving him the benefit, even the Fr. Voigt story could have been seen from different angles.
Then came the "Bishop Ambrose" affair, which greatly alarmed me, because it concerned the matter of valid sacraments. I wondered how he could so naïvely believe all that, despite the contrary evidence piling up. When the Tetherow info came to me, it was the same situation all over again. I was determined to approach him and get some real answers this time. (I took notes of the whole conversation the next day in the best Scolfari tradition, and would like to relate the entire thing, if someone asks.) Fool me once, shame on you...right? So there ain't no third time.
My friends had kept directing me to "RumorInfo.com" every time a new Father P. episode occurred. So I, being drawn to the Resistance AND also not susceptible to cult-like thinking, began to have more and more doubts about Father P. This was the last straw.
My views have been a little less rigid lately. There are so few of us left in the lifeboat that is the Barque. The Church is going through her crucifixion NOW! We must stand firm in our beliefs but also help other Catholics discover the True Faith and not give them up for lost--or write nasty things to them. God help us all!
