  • I'm sure I am just an intellectual lightweight in your mind, but frankly I tire of threads/opinions like this.  Lot's of verbiage and judgments and I'm sure in all your "years" of experience you can make these statements about those of us who've been here 25+ years or more.  Are we tired of the fight? or just re-treading the same old clapping with one hand arguments, now from yet another trad come lately.
This is not a "sport" with winners and losers.  It's about truth, not your opinion, no matter how erudite it's expressed.  two words come to mind, I hope I am wrong about, but I doubt it.  "Arrogant Ass"

No, no dear sir - allow me to confirm you suspicion. Although I must say I prefer "Jack Ass" or "Smart Ass". I have seldom warranted the appellation of "Dumb Ass", however perhaps now would be a fitting moment to add it to my litany.

  • Has anyone heard the term a "half assed job"? I interpret it from a farmers perspective: If one must plow a field with a plow, likely, a plow built to be pulled by two asses is being used. If there is only one ass (donky) hooked to the plow meant for two of them, not much work is going to get done. Hence, a "half assed job". So, how many asses does it take for people on this forum to get a polite serious discussion going?

Being of Austro-Germanic lineage and coming from a farming area I can attest to many using asses so, it is a logical term to me.

I don't think some of you quite understand some of the questions and points Arsenius is throwing out there, like his mentioning the Resistance having understaffed High Masses, inadequate choirs, weekday Masses, First Fridays and Saturdays. I've been there, done that. As head MC of one such chapel I can sadly tell you he is right! We are currently deprived of our usual parish norms. Indeed, we are growing, but very slowly. And these new comers are rarely converts. This year we may not be understaffed but, that still does not change the fact that the "Resistance" is not a very good at evangelizing where I am and in other places. Though, considering geographical location that could change in a few years.

While a lot of you are getting upset over the questioning of Fr. Zendejas' intellectualism the entirety of these questions is so much more than that. And don't get me wrong, I think so very highly of this priest like the rest of you! But, look at some of the other aspects of our current situations! And I understand your fatigue, even though I'm young. I have old, tired relatives too. But, now is not the time to let the ferocity with which we saw so many churches and communities be built die off, keep going! The next generation of lazy louts need you and to see the fiery dedication! At the same time, we do need to have good deep discusions and keep raising questions. If a youngster asks a question it's because we want an answer to something we are unsure of. It's like a child questioning an article of faith, you dont just slap him/her and say "it's so and should not be questioned or you'll go to Hell"
No, you point them to books of theology and discourses by the saints and the proper catechism of the church so the child's mind will have peace knowing a logical reason exists for believing something.

Now, with all that said, I think that if the Resistance does not grow in numbers but, especially holiness on an indevidual level we realy are going to be the "cavemen" crawling out of a hole in the wall at the end. I can't speak for other places but, this is my opinion based on familiarity with one chapel and the "denizens" thereof.

Also, I agree with the simple reasoning of josefamenendez's post but, as above, we are in a way losing a part of what we are trying to protect such as the "Smells and bells," various devotions, traditional hyms and such, even with hard work itseems it shall be a few years before we get back to the things the SSPX was just barely providing. Our culture has deteriorated and many I would dare say are still basically Sunday church goers. I don't believe many are doing much to revive christian tradition in the home, but then again, it's not like I'm there so how would I really know? Trads the whole spectrum over still seem too worldly to me though, wherever you go.

Lastly, I would not put the Resistance goers on the bottom rung of the intellectual totem pole. You know why? Because a good part of these people grew up in and were taught by the SSPX! If these people are unintelligent, imagine what the next generation (by that I mean mine) of SSPX folk is going to look like... not very pretty from what I've seen so far! They are "E pluribus unum".  I would also say that even if most Resistance folks are unintelligent then they at least have courage to stand up for what they believe to be right or best.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that, as my thoughts fail me as of this late hour.
Many people say "For the Honor and Glory of God!" but, what they should say is "For the Love, Glory and Honor of God". - Fr. Paul of Moll

Ha Ha !  Now that's funny.  I can now see you don't take yourself too seriously.  I take back what I said.

The Resistance has had several years to prove its merit, and instead we have seen scandal after scandal and minimal vocations. Having known and interacted with many Resistance faithful (some of them on a very intimate and personal basis), I have to honestly say that they don't come across as any holier or wiser than any other traditional Catholics I've met. Frankly, I know people in the Novus Ordo with a more well-balanced and mature spiritual/prayer life than most people I've met in the Resistance. That is excluding the intellectual dimension that should be expected among men.

Your (extremely verbose) opinion is worth, well,....not much.

I do not believe the purpose of the Resistance was to provide vocations. Obviously there is no infrastructure from which to provide them, so for you to expect as much is quite unreasonable.

As for the Faithful, it's not a contest.

No one cares what you think about how "holy" or "wise" any individuals are, and no one should care. It's not a contest.

Most of the people in the N.O. that I know have a VERY disordered sense of obedience and charity, compared to Traditionalist Catholics. This is why the N.O. is to be avoided. Those are some of its "fruits."

You really do have a lot of nerve to come to an openly Resistance board to criticize the Resistance.

Watch it , mw2016. This gent won't address women at all -we are intellectually inferior I suspect, or maybe he feels we don't have a right to post in this forum, well at least not to him  More pseudo-intellectual neo-trad posturing.. Don't expect a response from him.
Of course I am not a feminist and submit to the men (my husband, clerical authority etc) that I am called to submit to, but until the owner of this site changes the rules, I won't play the Arsenius game. This "fellow" doesn't deserve any further attention.

Now where did I put my Hijab????
