Sounds like the last interview backfired! Must need more sensitivity training before acceptance. The Remnant had said: (Unilateral Recognition) "Coming Soon".

They need to make up their minds or get on the same page. Didn't someone, another bishop or leader JUST say we could wake up and be recognized this year? I could go look it up but who has the energy? The circles, ugh, making me dizzy.

The real debate is:

Is knowing that something is coming, while not having an exact date, useful at all?

I say "yes".

Both for the SSPX deal with Rome, as well as the economic collapse. In both cases, there are things I will want to do to prepare. Even if I end up preparing a few years early, it's better than being a few days late.

Of course I would prefer to know EXACTLY the day and the hour. But, barring that, I'd at least like to know what is inevitable, what is coming down the pike.
Certain measures can be taken (for example, looking to my family's spiritual future, providing some means of attending Mass if something happened to our local SSPX chapel. In our case, the next non-Indult Mass option would be 3 1/2 hours one way!)

In the case of preparing for economic collapse, I can begin right away not trusting the banks, storing in the bank ONLY what I need to pay our monthly bills. I can purchase and store some down to earth supplies (gardening tools, chicken raising equipment, etc.) In the current economic setup (fractional reserve banks, fiat currency) economic collapse is a mathematical certainty.

Some (fools) might say: If you don't have a date, then sit down and shut up. Just forget about it. Not having the date, you have NOTHING you can act on.

I disagree. I'll take what I can get.

It takes time to prepare other chapel options for your local area.

Just look at these two pictures. One of them is from Feb. 2013, when Fr. Pfeiffer and Fr. Hewko showed up for Mass for the first time.

The bottom picture is 2 1/2 years later, August 2015, right after we got pews in the chapel.

It takes time to save up resources and build up a chapel.

There are a LOT of things not pictured in the bottom picture, too. The fact that the building has electricity now, the A/C units we've installed, the sidewalk outside so parishioners' feet don't get muddy when it rains, and whatever equipment we have in the sacristy.

And we've continued to improve since August 2015. We now have a beautiful set of Stations of the Cross that someone graciously donated. We just installed a 3rd new A/C unit (for a total of 54,000 BTUs of cooling power). We're about to get a 2nd "gothic" kneeler so we can leave one in the confessional and have the other for Communion. We have a bunch of paperback Mass-booklets that someone donated. And on and on...

But all this takes time. Finding people to attend Mass, patiently waiting for donations to come in to help build up the chapel (assuming you don't have a nest egg yourself to draw from)...

Even with the world's best chapel and website (neither of which I'm claiming...hahaha), it would STILL take time for people to find it. Only so many people move to your area each month. You pretty much have to wait for NEW people to move in, because most of the existing local Trad Catholics have their existing Sunday habits which they don't want to break or change. It's hard to get them to change their routine.

So, there won't be a "unilateral" recognition, but he didn't say anything about a "mutual" agreement.
