This is a red herring, the SSPX is not responsible for the personal problems/decisions of its parish members.

I find this remark troubling.  If, indeed, this is the attitude of most SSPXers, (and I suspect it might be), then the situation can not help but to become worse.  We're in the period of the Judges, I think.  It is every man to his own tent.  The idea of a Christian parish in which people love and care for one another has gone out the window.  It is now survival of the fittest.  If families fail, well, that's their problem, I guess.  After all, don't these people have brains?  Don't they have good sense? Well then, why don't they use it?

I called friends in PF about this most recent family tragedy.  These are folks quite active at ICC.  But they hadn't even heard about the matter, and expressed total shock at the news.  This illustrates how many, if not most, sspx parishioners may feel and behave as, apparently, Marlelar does.

  • Yes, and how many time has Our Blessed Mother warned us that "hearts will grow cold" ?

    From Our Lady of LaSalette:

"There will be  murder, hate, envy and deceit, with no love or regard for one's country or family".

The messages from Our Lady of LaSalette: Melanie
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • I don't think God holds any individual responsible for the actions of another.  God will hold people responsible for any influence they had, but not for the action.

If you find yourself in a parish where undue influence is being exerted on members, and you do not feel strong enough to withstand that influence,  RUN don't walk, as far away as you can get.

It is remarks like the above that drove me off of CI for a year.  They have nothing to do with the topic at hand, and are rather silly, inscrutable and incomprehensible on their face. Who is holding anyone responsible for what someone else has done? Who has mentioned "undue influence" being exerted on members? What in the hell are you talking about?

  • Your  OP started it.  You implied the SSPX was responsible for the alleged divorces among parishioners.  Others elaborated on the Society exerting cult-like influence on members.

I merely state my position on ANYTHING in particular that happens among the attendees at any particular chapel. Individuals are responsible for their own behavior.  Period.
