Neo-SSPX turn out to not be compromisers after all, eh?

Where's their apology for GREC, Krah, their hiring of the secular PR firm, and their retraction of their scandalous statements on Vatican II and the Jєωs?

    Compromisers, indeed.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • One of my favorite films:

I'm grateful, but it's worth questioning:  Is it to silence the resistance?  And for how long.  Your move.
But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.

  • The discussions with Rome did not convert Rome, and caused much unnecessary pain to the Catholic Faithful in the SSPX.  Renouncing the discussions is a good start and, if not an apology, at least an explanation is due from Bishop Fellay.

It will be nice when we can put this all behind us.  However, I think in this time of what future theologians and historians will probably call "The Conciliar Heresy", Catholics will need to keep their eye on the ball at all times.

  • Bishop Fellay offered the farm at the time of Assisi III.  He wrote Benedict and said that it wasn't possible to go as far as Benedict wanted because others in the society wouldn't go along with it.  The General Chapter then offered the six conditions for an agreement.  Are those withdrawn?  Can't they be offered again at will?

Bishop Fellay does not speak like Archbishop Lefebvre:

How true that statement is.  So the rest of Bishop Fellay's antics are just "smoke and mirrors".

  • Truth seems to be relative for these people.

So there is no real obstacle to prevent them from joining Vatican II, or doing anything else that they deem expedient, except for the disagreement of those who are the kind who have been silenced, sent to Timbuktu, or kicked out.

They don't show any inconsistency in their intolerance of those who follow the Archbishop's teachings.

  • The dialogue is over because the deal was done last year.

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

    From the Doctrinal Preamble:
    Quote
III, 7.- We declare that we recognise the validity of the sacrifice of the Mass and the Sacraments celebrated with the intention to do what the Church does according to the rites indicated in the typical editions of the Roman Missal and the Sacramentary Rituals legitimately promulgated by Popes Paul VI and John-Paul II.

    from the OP article:
    Quote
The Lefebvrist bishops save their harshest criticism for the Novus Ordo Mass, promulgated in 1969 by Pope Paul VI. “This Mass is penetrated with an ecuмenical and Protestant spirit, democratic and humanist, which empties out the sacrifice of the cross.”

So what is their true position?

  • As much as we feel the injustice to Bp Williamson and the expulsed priests, I do believe they are very strong men of God who are using these injustices as opportunities to strive for sanctity and detachment from the world. They would not be the men they are if they allowed this injustice to break them. If they are never expunged or justified, God will make up the difference in grace and heavenly comfort.

As far as the "official" SSPX goes, I hope that such a strong statement means that the other 2 bishops are able to prop Bp Fellay up a bit so as to avoid total destruction just yet. Yeah, it's what people need to hear, I don't doubt there's an element of damage control with this convenient timing. My confidence is not restored because the essential element of regret seems to be woefully lacking, which makes one unsure if history will repeat itself down the road. But in order to save face, now they really do have to live up to it. Being in the hot seat to live up to it buys people a little more time and hopefully grace to be ready for the next iceberg whatever it may be.

  • Perhaps H.E. Bishop Williamson will address this "live" tomorrow in his conference at the "second" 25th Anniversary of the Episcopal Consecrations.  :roll-laugh1:

I will take this celebration over the former any day of the year!!!

H.E. Bishop Williamson is the same as he was 25 years ago. Truth gushes from his pores. He just can't help it. There is no bending backward and forward like a reed in the wind.

"And when they went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: What did you go out into the desert to see? a reed shaken with the wind? But what did you go out to see? a prophet? yea I tell you, and more than a prophet." Matthew 11:7,9

"So you also, when you shall have done all these things that are commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do." Luke 17:10

Walty, this is such a dumb comment, and you're not a dumb guy, so I can only imagine that it's made out of ignorance.

The only reason any of this is an issue is that

    A) it contradicts the massive 'defense of the deal' campaign (viz. Fr Themann's conference at SSPX mecca St Mary's and the subsequent mass mailing campaign which included copies of said conference and a defense of the deal-- though more an attack on the Resistance).  Fellay and Co has put A LOT of effort into defending the deal-- Fr Themann's conference, the mailing campaign, local priests going on 'vacation' while a visiting priest came to chase the resistors out of the chapel...

    B) Fellay has switched his stance dozens of times.  I think on average we're looking at a monthly switch.  And we're talking contradictory positions.  One day the NO is licit, the next day it isn't.  One day we're going to make a deal with Rome, one day we're not.  One day Rome doesn't have to convert, the next day they do.

And of course, all of this is in the face of GREC, the expulsion of H.E. Williamson, the expulsion and effective expulsion of very holy priests who would not stay silent while Menzingen plotted, the docuмented liberalising of the society proper (from the seminary formation to the removal of 'sensitive' articles from their site, the approval of the NO, VII wasn't all that bad, etc.).

Hopefully we can get a reply out of you, and not have you pull a Someone1776 quasi-'gotcha' post.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).
