  • I believe it is very likely a unilateral recognition from Rome of the SSPX will occur within the next 2 months.

    Premise:
    1. We all know a deal is imminent. This goes without saying, but to reiterate, we have the softening of the SSPX, the extension of jurisdiction for the year of mercy, the words of Bishop de Galarreta, the recent meeting of Francis and Bishop Fellay, etc.

Why Now: Rorate Caeli (say what you will) breaks almost every story. They called Francis what he was within a week of his election, they more recently broke Amoris Laetitia.

On April 3rd, Rorate Caeli tweeted

    Quote

Folks, hold onto your hats: things are getting VERY close to completion. That's all we can say for now

    To which someone replied,
    Quote

Whatever it is, I hope Michael Voris will hate it

    Their response
    Quote

    GUARANTEED

Now, this was on april 3rd. My first inclination was that it had something to do with Amoris Laetitia. However, following the release of the docuмent, someone asked them whether their super-secret news had anything to do with the exhortation? Their response: no.

Why 2 months? No real reason. Just seems reasonable, if the story were leaked to Rorate at this time.

  • Why doesn't Matthew set-up a book making scheme so we can bet on the actual announcement date?

  • Any formal recognition is dependent on the Society's members' willingness to accept that they are part of the new church's mission and the laity's remarkable ability to notice there is little difference between the old for which they fought and the new against which they fought. We have to say that the Society ceased to be a truly traditional body some time ago and was put on the waiting list for eventual merger with its larger partner while the required grooming took place.

  • Sorry, but the deal has been imminent for over 5 years now.  Probably just had to do with the April 1 visit between +Fellay and Francis.

Wow!... what are your feeding that bunny?
He looks like something from the bountiful "6th Age of the Church."

    June 3rd eh?

Okay, I'm going to let my parakeet walk on the calendar to pick my date.
My hunch is its going to be on a ʝʊdɛօ-masonic feastday.

Yeah, the rank & file members will never guess that all the ugly details of their betrayal can be found in the fine print of the xSPX's mysterious Prelature contract.

I think you might be underestimating how whacky Francis is and how little he knows about the faith/ecclesiology. It would not shock me at all to hear him say, "following my conscience..."

You left this detail out.  Nevertheless, I call bull.  These rumors have surfaced every two weeks or so pretty much since they booted +Williamson.

When you set out a 5-10 year plan you are working on your near future. Every step you take closer to achieving whatever goal you set for your 5-10 year plan brings you closer to your goal, even if it's only year 1 and you have 9 more years to go.

Some clerics and faithful have wanted a practical agreement for decades and just learned to keep that opinion to themselves. The fact that they can now be open, nay more than open... aggressive in advancing the idea, is evidence enough that we are nearing the completion of the goal.

Of course I still hope that it falls through and we do not put Doctrine on the backburner, I mean up for discussions, but if certain people get their way, it is absolutely imminent. The groundwork couldn't be better laid out.

I have a steak dinner on the Feast of the Assumption. Using history as a guide and all of the previous "any day now" predictions, I think the Assumption will come and go without a deal.

If you're all serious about betting, I could put together a google docuмent that goes till the end of the year of mercy. The winner could get...2 miraculous medals and a bunch of prayer cards. Of course, you'd have to give me your address.  :scratchchin:
