  • FYI: I received this e-mail today:

"Fr. Bourbeau will have his lower leg amputated on Monday at 12:30pm EST. Then he faces 6 to 8 months of rehab and such, getting to the stage of having a final prosthetic. He gave permission to spread the word here, and he appreciates very much your prayers.

(For those of you who may not know the background, when he was a high schooler in Michigan Father suffered a rugby leg injury, which along with medical errors resulted in permanent damage and multiple surgeries ever since. Then this past winter he re-broke his leg skiing, and now the doctors have decided it is time to just go ahead with the inevitable... amputation.)"

  • Yikes.

He really shouldn't have gone skiing in that condition.  I had a knee injury in High School (required surgery) and try to be very careful with it ... since I know that one wrong step could blow it out, require surgery, and crutches for a long time.

  • UPDATE:

    Dear Parishioners,

Just as an update on Fr. Bourbeau's surgery, I offer the following.

I was able to bring him Holy Communion a few hours after the surgery and spend time with him, his father, and Michael his brother.

    Thank you for your prayers.

    God bless.
