    • Apparently my common sense is broken.

    I have been contacted by 2 individuals basically shocked that the Bp Williamson wake photos were posted on the Internet. They claimed it was disrespectful, were shocked that I didn't instantly see it that way, etc.

    This got my attention, obviously. I don't like to be so wrong or for my common sense to be broken.

    And yet -- no one on CathInfo said a thing. Up to the present moment. Not a SINGLE PM or e-mail from an active CathInfo member. We're talking about CathInfo! Do you know how many mature, long-time, serious, devout, well educated Traditional Catholics are on CathInfo?

    Hmmm... maybe it's a cultural thing? I recall hearing that in Hispanic countries, "you're buried by morning". Contrast this with England, where burial takes a month.

    One of the individuals even brought up the OPSEC argument, saying that the funeral hadn't taken place yet. In other words, there is still time for enemies to get the latest location cancelled. Firstly, I'm 100% in agreement about the need for OPSEC regarding the Bishop's funeral.

    But these photos, seriously? I couldn't even identify the building, much less the city it's in, just by looking at the inside of some hall. Even someone with a 300 IQ, unlimited international calling, and satan's own soul couldn't do a thing with just these photos, sorry.

    I just want to talk about this.

    • Pictures exist of Mgr. Lefebvre and Mgr. Tissier's wakes ... why would this be disrespectful? It is common practice to have the body on display, and sometimes (I know in the case of Mgr. Lefebvre) people would bring their rosary or holy cards, etc to touch to the body. I think in a lot of ways, people have made death into something "unsanitary" and "uncomfortable", instead of part of life - we all die, and we all need prayers and Masses when we do. I recall that there was a time and place when family photos happened with the corpse! Everyone gathered around for the last family photo ... I guess it's partially cultural as well. 

    In short, I'm on the same page. We should respect the death and honour them as best we can, even though many of us will not be there and likely never know his final resting place (please correct me if I am wrong!)

    • I don't find it disrespectful.  It is hard to look upon death, but necessary.  We would be looking upon him in death if we were there in person.  The pictures make it more real.

    • Personally I appreciated them being posted. I did figure out the venue but only because I knew the city that it was to take place, I don’t think most would have figured it out without any other details.

    Exactly. You first need the city, and then maybe you could narrow it down. But without that starting point, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

    And let's be real. It's hard to do "detective work" from thousands of miles away. If you had the location/address, maybe you could make a couple phone calls. But detective work? You need to be a lot closer to England than Boston, KY to get the job done. Let's just say any detective work takes TIME, especially when you're working from thousands of miles away.

    • Perhaps the only angle I could surmise (other than some sensibility that it's macabre or something for some cultures) is that the venue is certainly unworthy of and in a sense insulting to the dignity of Bishop Williamson.  Whereas Huonder got full honors next +Lefebvre at Econe, Bishop Williamson will end up in a pauper's grave.

    That will be recitified I'm sure.

    I'm sure that it's Bishop Williamson's attitude ... since that's the least thing from his mind ... but for those of us who respect him for what he did for Tradition, WE find it utterly disgraceful and will not put up with it.  We can put up with indignities directed at ourselves, but do not put up with it when they're directed at others.
