  • Or Society of Saint Pius V, CMRI, or other Traditional priests?  I have no idea the financial situation of any of these institutions or if they are even interested —but what a great story would it be to have the abandoned souls in Miami-Dade County served by any of these groups.

  • This location was SSPX. It looks like they abandoned ship.

I suggest to get out of Miami in whatever way you can, that place is a cesspool of impurity.

  • It looks like someone has been watching too many movies. Miami is one of the safest major metro areas in the US.

I lived there for 7 years.

Unfortunately a proprietary index doesn't really tell you anything about it there. So statistically, Miami's HIV rate is second in the nation behind Baton Rouge, LA. Miami-Dade is #1 in FL, which is #3 in the nation, for human trafficking. The wealth disparity is #2 in the nation (#1 being NYC). Jєωs make up 8.3% of the metro population which is just behind NYC at 11%, and is the second-highest in the nation and the world outside Israel (FL is also tied with NY in second place for # of h0Ɩ0cαųst museums). The poverty rate is 23.4%, just beating Philly. 77.4% of the population speak a language other than English in the home. 58.3% of the population wasn't born in the US. 52% of the population are functionally illiterate in English. And as far as crime goes, the violent crime may not exceed your average major US city but property crime is outlandish. In Miami Beach, you have a 1 in 13 chance of being a victim of property crime. Not to mention the prevalence of fraud, identity theft, etc.

It's a city of thieves and dishonest people and, yes, a cesspool of iniquity. You won't see more scantily clad women than you will in Miami. It's been referred to as a "gαy mecca" (over 1 million LGBT travelers annually), a "shtetl by the sea" and "little Jerusalem." The poor are grossly poor and the rich are obscenely rich. It's a playground for the likes of Epstein and Trump (how about the Russian prostitution ring bust in Trump Towers III?). Taking all of this into account, I strongly suggest anyone, especially Catholics, to avoid that place like the plague. Obviously there are exceptions in the population, like Lot was in Sodom, but that doesn't change anything about the city.

That is quite a statement. You have condemned an entire county of 2.8 million people of being thieves, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs, and Jєωs.

Funny, I have lived here all my life, never once been robbed, had my car stolen, assaulted, etc. Are there problems? Sure, you can say that about any major city in the US.   The income gap was created by foreign nationals who have made Miami an “International City.”

As far as human trafficking is concerned, Miami is behind Orlando, Atlanta, and Washington DC, and it is larger than all those three cities combined.

  • Regarding the replies above, perhaps that's all the more reason why the SSPX should have stayed or another traditional priest come. We all are sinners & the parishioners there deserved better. Some with the money (the SSPX's desirable parishioners) will go to Davie or the other South Florida Masses. The others were abandoned; all at the hands of the prosperity gospel prior (maybe he can buy another toupee or come up with more projects after this church, willed to his Society after a poor priest was found shot dead left it to him) in Sanford.

He took the vaxx, did he?  Now he’s bald?

Not to make of the situation!  I’ve been a long time without Mass or Sacraments myself, thanks to divoC dictates.

  • Miami to Davie is only 30mins drive. I've read about people driving 2-3 hrs every weekend for mass, but 30mins is nothing to most people these days.

  • I've been meaning to comment on this thread for days --

You're forgetting about the priest shortage. The original "shortage" before CV-19.

Except for maybe the SSPX, most trad groups (if you can even call them that; some "groups" have 1-3 priests) do NOT operate as a corporation, where they build X new stores, try to outcompete their rival chain, etc.

It's not just a question of territories, allocating resources, and other business strategy. When you don't have enough priests, you can't "expand" anywhere even if 10 widows left you $150,000 each.

If we were protestants, we could "hire" some preacher to give us his two-cents-worth on the Scriptures, and people would donate money, which could be used to build more churches, etc.
But in the Catholic world, you can't have Mass or even a pared down (priestless) service without an ordained Priest. Only the Novus Ordo -- which is virtually protestant -- is headed in the direction of priestless services, due to necessity.

Well said. It is not that they moved but how they moved, which was outrageous and a sin against charity.

That depends on what part of Miami-Dade you are coming from.

Did he take the Vax? I did see something strange about him last week.
