Does anyone find it odd that the pope would resign so quickly in the middle of Lent? He cites health and age, but he seems on planning to live out the rest of his life in a monastic cell in the Vatican, so it seems he at least has a few years to go.
Something does not seem right. There seems to be an element of immense and immediate pressure to get him out of office so quickly to where he can't even stick it out till Easter. If this were planned out and thought through freely by him, you'd think he'd give much more notice and step down after Easter.
