  •   Will this mean a sudden excerlation with the agreement with Rome? If it means the death nail in the SSPX it is worth it to Benedict XVI, surely. More interesting are the prophecies of St. Malachy about the last pope on his list being the last pope overall, he is suppose to bring the Church back again & the chastisements which Malachi Martin said would be in the Spring time ("look to the sky in the spring"). One thing is for sure... there wont be any good pope coming out of Apostate Rome. This puzzle will start being put together.

  • The time is ripe for an anti-pope to take power.

  • My prediction:

BXVI regularizes the SSPX with no pre-conditions right before he leaves office.

This makes Bishop Fellay eligible to be Pope.

Bishop Fellay wins conclave in a shocker!

  • This should make things interesting for the SSPX/Rome discussions.

Isn't there a prophecy that states this next Pope will be the one to Consecrate Russia to Mary's Immaculate Heart?

  • Does anyone find it odd that the pope would resign so quickly in the middle of Lent? He cites health and age, but he seems on planning to live out the rest of his life in a monastic cell in the Vatican, so it seems he at least has a few years to go.

Something does not seem right. There seems to be an element of immense and immediate pressure to get him out of office so quickly to where he can't even stick it out till Easter. If this were planned out and thought through freely by him, you'd think he'd give much more notice and step down after Easter.

  • Quote from: Benedict XVI
    Dear Brothers,

I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is. Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.

From the Vatican, 10 February 2013
    BENEDICTUS PP XVI

Quote from: Joseph Sylvester Hunter, Outlines in Dogmatic Theology, 1909
We, on the other hand, maintain that the promise was made to Peter alone, and that the authority of the Pope comes immediately from God and is not given to him by the Church. The point now has been defined by the Church. (Auct. Fid. 2 and 3 ; Denz. 1365, 1366; and the Vatican Council, Sess. 4, cap. 1, Denz. 1668.)

It would be comparatively easy for us to be holy if only we could always see the character of our neighbours either in soft shade or with the kindly deceits of moonlight upon them. Of course, we are not to grow blind to evil

  • I can't say I'm sad to see him resign. I just wonder if his successor will be worse.
