This is actually good.
Let's take a 3rd look at the logic of the Pope's writer's homily:
Today is a time of mission and it is time of courage! Courage to strengthen the tottering steps, to take the taste of spend themselves for the Gospel, to regain confidence in the strength that mission brings. 1. It is time of courage, although courage does not mean having no guarantee of success. Is required of us the courage to fight, not necessarily to win; to announce, not necessarily to convert.
2. Is required of us the courage to be alternative in the world, but never becoming argumentative or aggressive. Is required of us the courage to be open to all, never belittle the absoluteness and uniqueness of Christ, the one Saviour of all. 3 We are required [to have] courage to stand up to unbelief, without becoming arrogant. There is also required the courage of the publican in today's Gospel, who with humility not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying: "O God, be merciful to me a sinner." Today is time of courage! Today it takes courage!
1. Why Courage to fight? Because the Blessed Mother has already won over the devil.
2. Be an alternative to what... other religions ? Why would being "aggressive for the faith, mean being arrogant or belittling Christ the One Saviour of All"? On the contrary, being passive with all other religions, belittles Christ's death on the Cross.
3. The Pope's writers made a complete mix-up on the Publican theme. He was humble for his sins, but would fought to the death for his Faith.
