Newser)  – Pope Francis has removed a conservative US cardinal from the Congregation for Bishops, a top Vatican committee. Taking Cardinal Raymond Burke's place is a more moderate American from Washington. Burke, who is a firm opponent of abortion and gαy marriage, will stay on as prefect of the highest Vatican court, the New York Times reports. But he'll hold less sway in selecting US church leaders. The pope's move, experts say, is part of his push for a more accepting church. But Burke's replacement may be more about consistency at the top than about "specific social issues," the Times notes.

Francis "is saying that you don’t need to be a conservative to become a bishop," says a Catholic researcher. "He wants good bishops, regardless of how conservative or liberal they are." Burke had argued that Catholic politicians shouldn't be allowed communion if they back abortion rights; his replacement, Cardinal Donald Wuerl, feels differently. "That certainly is in line with the pope, who has said that communion is not a reward for being good,” a priest and Vatican expert says. "It is a sacrament of healing to help people." Francis also replaced Cardinal Justin Rigali on the Congregation for Bishops; facing an abuse scandal, Rigali earlier stepped down as archbishop of Philadelphia. There are no "liberal catholics".

There are just faithful Catholics and "fake" Catholics.

Maybe a bishop can be a "good pederast" or a "good embezzler" or a "good community organizer" or a "good communist?"


Apparently you don't need to have a name to be quoted, all you need to have is a title, like "a researcher."

Or perhaps, "a Vatican expert":

Oh, I get it:  public, pertinacious heretics should be allowed to receive Communion in hopes that they will recover from a sore throat or shingles or maybe the grand sewer of all heresies, you know, for "healing." Alternatively, the real purpose of this article is to announce the glad tidings of the bishop of Rome's birthday breakfast:

The Church Militant (TV) has to stand up for what's right --- I mean, what's "good."

Poor Voris is no doubt going into high gear over this one.  His hero, Burke, has been slighted, if not demoted.  What an outrage.  Expect a new Vortex post haste, where lies and falsehoods are trapped and exposed.

The cardinal that Francis chose, Cardinal Donald Wuerl, was referred to as Donna Wuerl by Fr. Malachi Martin in one of his tapes about the sodomite infiltration into the Church and its seminaries.

Many never get the bigger picture. The political establishment in Ireland know the hierarchy are no threat. A few weeks ago, I was passing the constituency office of a politician,who voted for abortion. A politician, who sings in his parish choir. I was under no illusion he would care. I wasn't expecting him to be in his constituency office. He was with a constituent. I opened the door. I didn't believe for a minute he would care. I told him he had voted for murder. He started saying "where are these murders taking place" and "that is your opinion". When I asked him what did he believe abortion is, he replied, "I had this conversation several months ago with pro-life".

Indeed he had. A few months ago about 30 people crammed into his office and for a couple of hours, they outlined the case against abortion legislation. He went ahead and voted for abortion.

The problem is 'pro-life' are kept on a reservation and the politician buys the vote. This particular politician is hated. It matters little if he is re-elected. A job in a bank, a CEO of a friends company await him if he 'retires'.

A few NewChurch priests have made a bit of noise but by and large the politicians know the weakness of NewChurch. The Bishops in Ireland are a joke and the 'pro-life movement' to a degree is a controlled opposition. No threat at all.
