  • It really makes one wonder how soon until the next conclave.

Remember what the Cardinals wanted at the last conclave?

    1. Continuity with Pope John Paul II.
    2. No more 26 year pontificates for a while!

They didn't elect a rather elderly Cardinal Ratzinger by accident -- they wanted a few years to prepare their "real" choice for the Papacy -- they needed a placeholder as it were, to buy them a few years.

  • He's an old man.

John Paul II was old like that for a long time.

There's no way to know, unless his doctors know more than we do.

  • And then what?

Imagine +Fellay being required to concelebrate a balloon Mass in Saint Peter's with Pope Christoph.

  • He's 85.  What do you expect him to look like?  This is a rather distasteful thread.

The next Pope?  "Peter the Roman."  Doesn't this bring us to the Third Secret of Fatima, LaSalette and Our Lady of Good Success?  Which is just another reason why +Fellay can't expect for ABL's little Society to bring about a miracle in Rome.  That has been given to Our Lady.
But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.

magdalena is right.  According to prophecy we will have a period of three to four years without a Pope.  There will be three or so claimants to the throne and one (who will not be validly elected) will be accepted by many as the true Pope.  After that point, we will get Peter the Roman, the last Pope, who will reign until the world's end, about 30 to 40 years later.

I am most worried about people whose belief is so attached to the person of the Pope that if we enter such a period described above, these Catholics will freak out and lose their faith.
For it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be dispersed. Matthew 26:31
