Agree with wallflower. He made a mistake on camera and was covering his embarassment with nervous laughter. No disrespect was intended. May I suggest that nobody who doesn't want to be a true priest or religious comes to OL of Mt. Carmel?
Yes, the ceremony lacked the polish and dignity it would have had at a pre-Vatican II seminary. The same ceremony at Winona or any other well-estblished SSPX/traditional seminary would possess a grandeur not present on this clip. Watch the clip again with attention to the accommodations. The building to the left of the chapel is the seminarians' dormitory and school. The cells are TINY with leaky, unscreened windows and no storage. The "dining hall," kitchen, "library" and classrooms are all in this building. The chapel is exactly as you see, both inside and out. The roads are rutted and muddy. The cement slab is where the Pfeiffer home stood until a year ago. Note the luxurious corrogated tin garages and maintenance shop, the magnificent priests' quarters (to right of slab), and the spacious, handicapped accessible "parking lot!" The men who took the cassock on Sunday have made this place their home since the end of September and have committed to staying for any number of years until ordained priests or brothers. For some, it may be their permanent home until death. As for the sister's residence, (not shown), it is equally posh!
The five seminarians, the priests, and Sister, need our prayers. If anyone wants or requires luxury and grandeur, the ability to walk with perfect dignity and nobility, to make no mistakes, or, certainly, to be very sure they do not appear in an amateur video on You Tube, as Fr. Chazal told a would-be seminarian displeased with similar accommodations in the Philippines, "I can name six seminaries where you can go and where they'll be glad to accept you."
Please give this man a break!
