My family has been attending Mass for 1 1/2 yrs at All Souls (diocesan) TLM in Sanford Fl. Well, Sunday (after 11 yrs) they changed the postures of the Mass. "Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem" are what the postures are following now. They have us stand a lot at places where we were kneeling (during the Sancus, the Agnus Dei etc).
We felt like we entered the Twilight zone. There were many people we have never seen before. A man stood to make announcements, just like the Novus Ordo parish we left. Also, the man's wife has never veiled. The two wonderful ushers I have seen every Sunday were not there. It was so odd. Something deep inside of me told me to go to the SSPX Mass and never go to All Souls again. It felt like they bused our old Novus Ordo Parish in for this Mass. I truly don't want to ever attend there again if this is what it is now.
We have never attended an SSPX Mass. The funny thing is- two weeks ago, a family at All Souls told us about Incarnation Parish in Orlando Fl.- which turned Catholic from Anglican in 2012. We went two weeks ago to Incarnation. The Mass was very traditional, but it is in English, not Latin. It was a beautiful Mass, but we wanted the Latin. Also, the readings follow Novus Ordo...(a,b,c year instead of traditional readings). And only St Michael prayer, no Leonine Prayers after Mass.
So, after the Mass at All Souls, where they had us standing the majority of the time, I looked up St Thomas More SSPX Mass times. They have a Mass at 12:30 on Sundays and I was thrilled because we can go at that time.
We teach Religious Education classes at our local Novus Ordo, we enjoy this, we feel we can teach our class something they may never hear otherwise. Classes start in two weeks and they are from 9-10 Sunday mornings.
Well, I saw in the latest online bulletin at St Thomas More SSPX, that starting in September, their latest Sunday Mass will be 10:30. We can't make that time. We are a little over an hour drive to Sanford.
I was distressed because of this and realized our only other solution would be Incarnation Parish, but it would have to be the 6pm Saturday Vigil Mass.
I know this is long and a bit confusing. If anyone has any advice on what they would do, please share. Please say a quick prayer for us that we know what we should do.
Thank you for your time,
Sandi
