  • Why do I have the impression that the primary impetus for this program is a recommendation by legal counsel to limit legal and financial exposure?

    I wouldn’t send my kids to a school that felt a need to implement such measures.

    It’s as though they expect more problems, and want to act now to get ahead of it.

    Seems like SSPX schools are in general free fall:

    1) Accepting gravely immoral governmental policies in order to operate and/or receive funds in Canada, Ireland, and England;

    2) Complying with the mandatory vaccination policy in New York (What about abortive vaccine lines, or the dangers of autism, etc)?

    3) Contracting with secular 3rd party financial aid companies to enforce payment of tuition (FACTS) and now this child protection company;

    4) The school in Switzerland housing a conciliar Bishop (?) and receiving doubtful sacraments from him (not only without protest, but with glee)!

    5) An SSPX school raising money for the FSSP.

    Etc, etc.

    The drive for conciliar approval is causing a metamorphosis at every level.

    Rom 5: 20 - "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more."

  • As an aside, what are all those abbreviations under "Calendar for the Week" on page 4 of the bulletin, accompanied by the truncated names (first two letters of first name, plus last name) and various times listed?  Are these Masses, and if so, are those locations on the St Mary's campus?  Elsewhere?  Both?

    I've never seen Masses listed like that before.

    The abbreviations probably identify different altars. MA = main altar?, etc.
    A lot of priests there and most/all of them offer Mass at the same time.

  • So let me get this straight, Plan to Protect is out of Canada. Its a Pentecostal  Organization, they are coming to Saint Mary's I guess to advise the families there on how to protect their children, again a guess, because they have been invited they are experts. Or is this SSPX'S plan to convert them like they plan to do with Rome once they get in full communion.All SSPX  needs is 5% more acceptance of VAT II and their home .

    You're half right...it's pentecostal but it originated in the U.S. and came to Canada a couple years ago and all hell broke loose in Calgary where parishoners were to sign in perpetuity that they wouldn't sue the SSPX .
    I believe they were told it would be re-worded but I didn't follow up on it as I'm not near there.
    There was a thread about it here on Cathinfo at the time.

    Correct, the abbreviations are for side altars: St. Pius X, Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady, and for other locations: Convent Chapel, Auditorium, Loyola Hall

  • Plan to protect provided web based training for SSPX employees and volunteers. This is required for people who volunteered at camps last year. Main take away from the training was basic rules when interacting with children, e.g. two adults when traveling. Also, docuмenting if you encounter something strange e.g. bruises on kids. Yes, it provides guidelines that will help mitigate any culpability but that is not the primary intent. As far as parents signing anything that said we cannot hold SSPX liable, I do not recall. If the SSPX does not follow their own policy and/or break  law, there is nothing that will protect them from litigation.

  • Pius X opening to the world like Pope John XXIII. They, Plan to Protect have tons of Govt. Agencies involved. More Govt. oversight for SSPX. Eventually they will push Govt. Curriculums, "Planned Parenthood sex ed " Programs etc.. Mark my word ! I've been through it all before, a step in the door.

  • This program and others like it are mandated at every NO "catholic" parish with a school across the USA.  I had to take a certification course for a job I had because I was on the grounds during time when kids are present.  you woiuld be correct in assuming this is CYA for the "catholic" diocese in our overly ((litigious)) country.  It is also more back door evidence of the SSPX sellout to the modernist robber church.  They probably have to implement this program to be "integrated" into the dioceses.  two of my kids are in the scout program here at their RC house and this was brought to my wife's attention just yesterday at a parent's meeting.  It may reflect a problem on occasion in some of the back waters of SSPX, but I think my reasoning on the subject is more likely.

  • UPDATE: https://smac.edu/sites/sspx/files/media/bulletin_03_08_2020.pdf

    "PLAN TO PROTECT™ PRESENTATION Fr. Jürgen Wegner, Superior of the U.S. District of the SSPX, will present to parents the SSPX's abuse prevention and awareness program in America, Plan to Protect™. The purpose of this presentation is to create awareness of the program being implemented in our schools and parishes, as well as to help parents understand the responsibility we share in ensuring the safety of all children. This event will take place in the auditorium THIS Wednesday, March 11, at 7:00pm. Please note that this event is open to adults only."

    And then there is this related news:

    "HOST FAMILIES Starting next academic year, St. Mary’s Academy will not be offering boarding facilities. We are already receiving inquires for “host families” to board out-of-town students (both boys and girls). If you are interested, you may pick up a copy of the Remote Enrollment Agreement from the Switchboard to review. If, after reading the agreement, you would like to host a remote boarder please contact the SMA Registrar (at ext. 475, or registrar@smac.edu). We will share the list of names as requests are received, however, this will be the extent of SMA’s involvement except for final approval from the Headmaster. It will be your responsibility to work out a custodial agreement with the student’s parents."

  • Plan to Protect is most likely one of the multiple training/educational tools that Insurance companies require businesses, schools and other entities to use in order to get Insurance.  This is not new to NO schools, public schools, public sports programs, summer league programs, etc.....  The SSPX is most likely being told they have to do this in order to get insurance.

    Absolutely correct, its CYA for all entities that deal with children on a daily basis.

    Don't assume its the back waters of the SSPX, its actually right in your local area.

  • Sadly, anyone wishing to openly and legally provide schooling, recreation, or stay in business must have such programs in place.  If it were possible to support myself without this, I would, but one cannot make a survival wage selling my arts and crafts on-line, or having a garage sale at the end of my driveway.  Yes, one can operate under the radar, have a "home-school" in the basement, sell items off your car hood, or barter homemade jewelry for food, but it won't pay the rent, the doctor, or for the supplies.

  • So what is the issue with this exactly? They’re just training employees in certain protective measures. You guys love to pull at straws and make a big deal out of something very insignificant. I’ve said it many times before.

    For all those on here  who love bashing St. Mary’s, here’s a challenge. Give me the name of a parish/school which you think IS doing things exactly as you think they should. This parish/school should be large enough to have a decent number of children/teens attending. If you can’t do this, then it proves that what you seek is merely an ideal in your mind with no possibility of being put into practice. Every human institution has aspects you might not like. Nothing is perfect. There is no completely pure church/school
    "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

  • After reading that Voiris article accusing various  SSPX priests of various crimes and negligence; that explains why SMAC will no longer have boarding students and why they felt they had to have this "Plan to Protect" conference.
