  • "...He was all business. He had no interest in idle conversation..."

    He was kind.

In his Charity, he even spoke with me.

I had made it clear to him I was a nobody; I was just driving a Padre around and mooching a few free lunches in the process.

He spoke to me of his suffering, his operations that cut things out of him that would have killed a Bull Elephant let alone an old Padre.

He described his Holy Ministry and the two to four hours he slept daily, and the constant pain he was in.

I think Nuestra Senora Santa Maria de Guadalupe, my Mommy (as I am a Mexican), crossed our paths that he might get that off his chest as he did not want to say so to someone he knew well.

He needed to speak with someone that night, and I was it.

I asked him for his blessing, and he gave it to me.

Most people are escorted by the Angels either to Heaven or Hell upon their deaths.

I think many Holy Angels were holding him up and carrying him around long before his death.

May God have had mercy on his soul.

  • The SSPX website has an announcement that appeared apparently the day after.

Fr. Hector Bolduc (then USA-Southwest District Superior)
with Archbishop Lefebvre at St. Vincent de Paul Church in 1981

    In memoriam: Fr. Hector Bolduc

The Regina Coeli House has just learned of the passing away this morning of Fr. Hector Bolduc.

Fr. Bolduc had been one of the earliest American members of the Society of St. Pius X, and was the District Superior of the Southwest District in the United States for several years until 1984 - after the Southwest and Northwest Districts were united into the present USA District.

It was due to Fr. Bolduc's efforts that the SSPX obtained the substantial properties of St. Mary's, Kansas, Queen of Angels Church in Dic-kinson, Texas, St. Vincent de Paul Church in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as many other places for offering the True Mass.

Fr. Bolduc was also a firm supporter of Archbishop Lefebvre, especially during the crisis that afflicted the SSPX in the United States due to opposition of "The Nine" sedevacantist priests.

Though Father decided to depart the SSPX for personal reasons shortly after resolution of the 1983 crisis, he continued to hold the Society in high esteem and remained in contact with the District Office throughout the years.

Fr. Bolduc had been residing in Wisconsin for several years, where only a few months ago he had been diagnosed with throat cancer. Please pray for the repose of Fr. Bolduc's soul: requiescat in pace.

    Funeral details

The first Requiem for Fr. Bolduc took place on Friday, Sept. 14 at St. Michael's Church in De Pere, WI.

He was buried in the state of New Hampshire on Tuesday, September 18 after another Requiem Mass at Immaculate Conception Chapel in Gilford.

[There is a St. Vincent de Paul parish in Los Angeles, a very impressive Spanish
style building not far from USC. It's not a good neighborhood anymore, but when
the Doheney's built it (oil family) it was a prominent area. The church itself is
quite remarkable in many ways, and it would be extremely expensive to build it
today. The acoustics are remarkable and the artwork second to none. But I
doubt that this is the same church mentioned above.

If there are other such stories about him, wouldn't it be wonderful for someone to publish a small book?  How inspiring.  Especially in such troubling times of ours.  I only wish I had known him.

    Let this be a lesson.

There are a lot of holy and edifying priests out there, even today,
and they are available for us to meet them. We have to be on the
lookout and take the opportunities as they arise. I happened to be
in the right place at the right time, and I met him. But I did not
know who it was I was meeting. I had never heard of him before.
My friends explained to me who he was and a little about his history,
and I knew immediately that this is someone I should watch closely
and listen to intently. If I had any questions for him, this would be
my chance. I hope I did okay with it. But these chances come to us
from time to time, and we must be ready.

Always pay attention to a visiting priest, and find out something
about him so you can qualify the moment you are experiencing.
How many people passed by ABL or St. Pius X, or the Cure d'Ars or
St. Maximilian Kolbe or even Padre Pio in their lifetimes, and did not
know who that was they passed by? Don't be one of them!!!

I know people who have all the movie stars memorized, by name,
major projects, married to whom and to whom and to whom, etc.,
ad nauseum. What's the point???!!! When I talk to them about saints,
they draw a blank stare and can only relate somewhat. Their hearts
are in the wrong place. They idolize worldliness and show business.

Don't be one of them. Pay attention to what's important. Don't miss it.

  • Yes, Neil.  Yes.  And we must pray that holy priests be sent to us.
But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.

You are looking at a moment in time, when two saints stood side by side:

One holding the hem of the other's garment.

This is the stuff of great artwork, someday...........................

(I just noticed that the archways behind them diverge, the one over ABL is
greater, as in dignity, and the one over Fr. Bolduc is broader, as in enduring
    further in time.)

Frs. Pfeiffer and Chazal offered a Gregorian Series of Masses for the repose of
his soul.  A finer thing cannot be imagined, I dare say.
