Looking at the number of down-votes, it looks like the only mistake I made is not "getting them all".

I can't testify to the charmingness or lack of charm of the person in question (I haven't read the posts in question), so I'll pass over that for now...

    Matthew,
Wessex is referring to "cantatedomino", whom you banned for saying the following hate-filled vulgar things, as well as several other name-calling posts about Bp. Williamson:

    Quote from: cantatedomino
I pray for the end of the disgrace of the sycophantic adoration, by otherwise good Catholic men, of an enterprising, machinating, con man who does not have the heart of a Catholic warrior, and who does not give a damn about the Church, Her priests, or souls.

"cantatedomino" has thumbed her nose at your ban, and now signed up on your forum as "panevino".

  • Quote from: True Faith
Like Fr. Pfeiffer says, "There is only one truth." How can one help but defend Fr. Pfeiffer and his position if one believes that he holds the truth? I don't think that by agreeing with his position and defending it on a regular basis makes one a "Pfeiffer fanatic," just a defender of the truth.

Silly.  Why do you all insist that truth is some monolithic binary thing?

Do you not think it possible that Father Pfeiffer may hold the truth on SOME issues but may be wrong on others?  It's silly to talk about "ONE TRUTH" in the context of what's going on here.

When you start to conflate the truth with a person, almost as if Father Pfeiffer were the incarnation of truth itself, then yet another alarm bell of "cult" starts to emerge.  I am sorry, but this seems to be a consistent thought pattern among the Father Pfeiffer followers that I find very deeply disturbing.  I can't help it.

Catholics do NOT follow personalities but the Catholic Faith.  I am, to paraphrase St. Paul, not of Pfeiffer, nor of Williamson, nor of Fellay ... I am of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  I am a CATHOLIC, not an SSPXer, SSPX-SOer, Resistanceer, Pfeifferite, Fellayite, Williamsonian, or anything like that.  I would never give up the name Catholic Christian for one of these inferior monikers.

While I admit that I crossed the line and made a number of comments against Father Pfeiffer that were not motivated by charity but rather out of frustration, and I apologize for these, you are also not serving Father Pfeiffer very well by not calling him out when / if he strays from the truth.

Did Cantate really say this about the good bishop?  For shame, if so! Also, Matthew should be commended for banning the poor woman, if all of it is true.  You can't talk this way about a priest, much less a bishop.

Yes, and I'll admit I tend to delete filth like that when it is posted. It's not just a "divergent opinion", but objective slander against a bishop.

Oh, but every time I ban someone, I'm just banning someone who doesn't want to be in the "Matthew Fan Club", I'm following in the footsteps of AngelQueen, I should forgive them or "give them a chance", yadda yadda.

I lost about a half-dozen members when I banned Pablo 2 years ago.

But what people don't realize is that if I don't ban someone, I'm also making a positive choice and taking a side in the conflict. It's impossible for a moderator to be truly "neutral" on a forum like this.

So I stick to my principles, which are summed up simply: the truth.

    Matthew,
Why haven't you re-banned her?  Do you realize after you banned her she signed up for a new account, "panevino"?

he can, and he can speak for himself, if he chooses.

nevermind I take back my previous post asking about that person's banning, he is of course free to run his forum as he pleases and it's none of my business who is a member or not.
