ORDINATION VALIDATION

  • Dear CathInfo,

I have been requested to assist with keeping an updated spreadsheet of various priests and their ordination history.
Matthew has kindly agreed to keep this thread posted in perpetuity to ensure this information is not buried.

    Here are my initial thoughts/directions:
    1. If you have information about a particular priest- provide that information to this email address: ordinationvalidation@use.startmail.com
    2. It must include a valid source-hearsay isn't verifiable.
    3. I will provide an updated spreadsheet with a new effective date as information is received.

If you do have any suggestions/format, etc., feel free to email as well. I am open to what works best.
Attached is the sample version with a couple of priest's information already.

  • I think Catholic Candle's list would be helpful in getting started, at least for information regarding SSPX priests: https://catholiccandle.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/6-9-25-Catholic-Candle-List-of-priests-who-claim-to-be-priests.pdf

Ideally I would like to take this kind of information and make it into a public wiki that would be easier to search through and for people to collaborate on.

  • Further development might include an image of the priest? Might help identify those only seen briefly/did not get a chance to speak to.

Great idea! I can add a separate tab for additional resources with the main tab for anyone not on the list.

Would you be interested in procuring images?

  • Good idea! A few thoughts:

    1. Are you considering any bishop,  priest? Are you zooming in on Resistance , neoSSPX, independent, monks, TradInc.?, Fake priests, former priests?
2  The sample format is not opening for me...if it doesn't work for my system, it won't open for MANY users...Can you get a more popular format?
    3. Also some priests don't want publicity for fear of personal danger, or danger to their chapels (ie.targeted attacks...this has already happened in France) .Should we seek their permission , esp for photos...there are crazy people out there and the world is getting more dangerous every minute( ie.California)
Fr. G (resistance). in Canada likes his privacy for one. ..his email is PRIVATE !  Phone numbers are more so. I think even +Faure wants to keep out of the radar.
When crossing borders, officials question anyone with a cassock, for profiling.
But on the other hand, a priest is a public figure and should be transparent.

USA gov't allegedly has Trad Catholics list as Extremists, along with ISI s, K k Clan etc.
The Church is under realtime attack.
    God bless.+

  • Catholic Candle is a bit out there, I think they are Pfeiffer/Hewko followers, but they do have a good list that is regularly updated across the various trad groups (heavily SSPX and former SSPX priests, but not exclusive). Gives as much info regarding bishop and date.

    1. I agree, we may need to be prudent and not post pictures.
2.The format is an Excel spreadsheet-what is a more popular format?
    3. The information provided would be concerning ordinations-there will be no information regarding contact/location.
    4. Considerations: I am gathering information into a more centralized database for anyone to review and discern. I don't intend on choosing a particular group-just provide information for the faithful.

Thanks. I am thinking of either adding this to another tab or providing a page of additional references/resources.

  • I have to question the a lot of this list. It is badly out of date.
