Oportet Christum Regnare - Review of Summer 2018 issue 18
A quarterly magazine of Resistance and Catholic Action by Hugh Akins
League of Christ the King

I just received the Summer 2018 issue (number 18) of the League of Christ the King's Oportet Christum Regnare, which weighs in at a substantial 68 pages. This issue, like many past issues of the quarterly magazine, has a particular theme: "The Church on Youth Formation and Apostolate".

To give you a better idea, here are the sub headings: Papal Concern for Proper Training of Youth, The Aim of the Catholic Formation of Youth, The Conformation of Youth to the Perfect Christian Ideal, The Aim of Christian Education Embraces Cooperation with God, Scope of Christian Education and The Formation of Youth, Physical and Social Development of Youth Through Sports, Recreation, Skills and Interests, Avoiding Extremes Between Care and Cult of the Body, Strengthening Supernatural Character, plus dozens more such headings to be found in this section!

Then the magazine stays on its general topic, while turning its attention to the current state of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX). In an article entitled, "How Neo-SSPX Further Betrays Christ - Weakens the Church by Cheating Youth out of a Truly Militant Formation", a recent (March 2018) conference at La Salette Boys Academy is critically discussed.

Then hope is given to readers in a section entitled, "Resistance Rising", with an update on the Community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Gabon, West Africa.

And faithful to its usual format, the Summer 2018 issue winds down with a roundup of important geopolitical news, stories and articles, including "World War III Watch - Special Report on Syria", "Absurdities of Syrian War Propaganda", "Voices from Syria", "The Wicked Hypocrisy of the West Knows No Bounds", and more.

There were also several important Eleison Comments by Bishop Williamson, including a three-part series aimed at Catholic parents.

In short, this issue did not disappoint, providing a lot of substantial meat to sink one's teeth into. Aside from the Eleison Comments which most Resistance supporting Trads have already read on CathInfo or elsewhere, most of the issue is useful, substantial, original content.

I would like to point out also that Hugh Akins is really persevering in this apostolate of his. This magazine is now on issue #18, and considering it's only a quarterly magazine that means he's stuck with this project for four and a half years and counting! He is clearly in this for the long haul, and it's inspiring and encouraging to see at least some projects like this existing in the young, fledgling Resistance. Hopefully other men can find the courage to imitate Hugh Akins and start ambitious, hopeful, forward-thinking projects of their own!

For now, those who can afford it can subscribe to Hugh Akins' periodical, Oportet Christum Regnare - translated, "It is Fitting that Christ should Reign".
