A Catholic Action Quarterly of Counter-revolutionary Resistance and Restoration

I just received the latest issue (Fall 2017) of Oportet Christum Regnare. All I can say is "Wow!" but I'll try to elaborate...

First of all, on the front cover is a picture of Archbishop Lefebvre, probably because he stars in this issue more than usual. Choice sermons and conferences are included which are particularly appropriate for the situation Traditional Catholics find themselves in today.

Hugh Akins has really done a great service to Tradition with his commitment to producing this quarterly magazine. This issue, for example, is 60 pages. Each issue is paperbound and has the dimensions of one of the hand-missals put out by Angelus Press, etc. As I've said before, this is the kind of periodical you want to store all the back-issues in a safe place for future reference. A great addition to one's Catholic library!

I think it would be great for small groups of Traditional Catholics -- especially men, but not exclusively -- to get together and use the articles of this magazine as a starting point for discussions and learning.

My favorite article this month? "To Stay With The Society of St. Pius X or to Leave? The Ongoing Debate Pro and Con" which proceeds to discuss the matter in the style of St. Thomas Aquinas in his Summa Theologica. Now that's what I call Traditional!

I just hope Hugh Akins gets enough support to continue this endeavor. I believe it is important for laymen (as in "mankind" -- not talking about males only here) to know their Faith, but also to understand what the Traditional Movement is all about. Reading the articles here, by Archbishop Lefebvre, Bishop Williamson, Fr. Chazal and others should give one a clear understanding of the fight we're facing today against Liberalism, Conciliarism, and Modernist Rome.

For that matter, we're also fighting against Communism, Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ, and the тαℓмυdic Jєωs, and this magazine isn't afraid to talk about that either!

In the 1950's, one only needed to know that the Catholic Faith was the True Religion and your search was done. Not so today. Today, the finish line has been moved forward a bit: we not only need to know that we need to be Catholic, but we also have to have additional knowledge/truth to bring us into a full understanding of Tradition, the disaster that was Vatican II, Modernism, Conciliarism, Liberalism, etc.

The simple fact is that we are in a great war today. The Church has been taken over, is still under seige, and the fight continues to the present day. Without a clear and deep understanding of the Conciliar Revolution and the Traditional Catholic movement which opposed (and still opposes) it, one might fall prey to the errors, propaganda, and other liberal influences of a neo-SSPX as they change to adapt themselves to Modern Rome (which for its part has already adapted ITSELF to the Modern World with Vatican II).

The numbers of Catholics at SSPX chapels today vs. those attending Mass at "Resistance" affiliated locations just goes to show HOW FEW CATHOLICS TRULY UNDERSTOOD THE TRADITIONAL MOVEMENT in general, or Archbishop Lefebvre's society in particular. How many Catholics were sitting in SSPX pews every Sunday just because it was convenient, professional, "a reverent Latin Mass", etc.? Apparently quite a few!

Anyone who can leave the SSPX in 2012 for an Indult Mass location obviously understood nothing of the Traditional Movement. Did they really think it was only about "the Latin Mass"? And this has happened more times than I can count!

If we want to inoculate ourselves, our families, our friends, our children, etc. against such errors, and give them a FIRM, SOLID FOUNDATION in Catholic principles and truth, against which nothing can prevail, then periodicals like this will be IMMENSELY helpful to that end!

Thanks Matthew for the terrific post on Hugh Akins' truly great Catholic quarterly publication.  This latest issue is a real knock-out take no prisoners one.

My favorite article is the 5 page "Msgr. Lefebvre on Muslims and Jєωs," which includes some of the best suppressed gems ever from the Archbishop!  Good thing he's not a priest in the neo-SSPX today.  Surely he'd be stuck in a "corner" and/or given his walking papers.

I was reading today that the protestant 'Girls Brigade' is out to  tender. Trads could take it over an convert them all.

They made the point their numbers are falling. What about Catholic groups? I hope here in Ireland we can build again Catholic scouting groups. Next month there will be the rosary at the Mass Rocks. This shows where Ireland is at. Our people need to influence scouting groups, youth groups, those going out on hikes and setting up our own groups. I am organising a few pilgrimages in the summer. Others are trying to revive old pilgrimage routes.

The pro-life rally in Dublin next month is already being billed as the Catholic last stand in Ireland with the referendum on abortion in May. If all is well in Ireland this referendum will easily be defeated. For Catholics in Ireland it is often the rosary and no access to Mass. A time of persecution is upon Ireland with the enemies taking revenge.
