  • Again my translation of an article by Gentiloup  from Un évêque s’est levé

    Quote
I have been a member of the Archbishop’s Society ever since my perpetual engagement. I have been one of its priests for 36 years. I have been one of its bishops, like yourself, for nearly a quarter of a century. That is not all to be wiped out with one stroke of a pen. Member of the Archbishop’s Society I therefore remain, and I wait. (Bishop Williamson – Open Letter to Bishop Fellay)

In his letter, Bishop Williamson affirms that he is a member of the Society of St. Pius X and that he will remain so. Who can claim otherwise ? Apart from a would-be autocrat ?

Observing that Bishop Williamson is truly the eldest son and successor of Archbishop Lefebvre, if you please (and I’m sure that it does please you!) we will consider as null and void the dictate issued by Bishop Fellay.

What can Bishop Fellay do without the SSPX faithful ?  NOTHING!

He has been badly discredited;  he has admitted to being deceived while everyone, particularly his three confreres, warned him of the danger. He has lost his credibility.

Whatever happens, Bishop Williamson is and will remain our bishop, a bishop of the SSPX, he who defended it in carrying the full weight of his cross for many years.

We do not accept the SSPX being cut off from one of its most worthy bishops.

They threw us out of our churches during the Revolution, during the time of the anti-clerical laws, and after Vatican II.

    Enough is enough!

BISHOP WILLIAMSON HAS NOT BEEN EXPELLED !  DISREGARD THE INFAMY OF MENZINGEN!

    Consider :

It is longer just priests, but one of the bishops consecrated by Archbishop Lefebvre who has been expelled. Not that the case of the priests is not tragic, but the authority and power of a bishop is of a different nature.

If Bishop Williamson would found a seminary, the defiant priests and religious would follow him. And they are more numerous than appearances may suggest in this climate of fear which exists in the ranks of the SSPX today.

    Here is why :

Recall that for the time being, our priests are waiting to determine what will be the reaction of Bishop Tissier de Mallerais. So, they are taking a wait and see attitude.

Think about why they wait :

    •   What can a priest do without being able to have confirmations to confirm his catechumens?

    •   What happens to a community that can only rely on defections to renew its priestly workforce?

    •   What can a priestly fraternity do with no bishop at its head? Who can transmit what he has received, that is, the Apostolic Tradition?

    •   How can a work be perpetuated without a bishop ?

Remember Archbishop Lefebvre’s reasons for consecrating the bishops : the creation of  “Operation Survival.”

What would the SSPX be without at least one truly traditional bishop at its head ?

Bishop Williamson would be able to open a new seminary, thanks to the money Bishop Fellay no longer has—an authentic seminary as the heir to the teaching of its founder, Archbishop Lefebvre. Certainly, the patience Bishop Williamson  has shown by carrying his cross so long under the authority of Bishop Felly, would lead us to think that he is not going to precipitously start doing ordinations and consecrations.

But, quite simply, Bishop Williamson only has to follow the way laid out by Archbishop Lefebvre ! . . . To continue the work that one of his other successors is currently destroying!

Therefore, it is for the faithful to not wait for the priests to give their permission to receive Bishop Williamson, but to simply receive their true bishop.

We must pray that Bishop Tissier de Mallerais remains one of these true bishops of “Operation Survival” and that Our Holy Mother will give him the strength and courage to resist the phenomenal pressure which is surely being put upon him at this time.

Satan is on the move—we have witnessed it with Bishop de Galeretta!

Like when Bp. Tissier verbally attacked French Fr. Chazal one or two months ago for not submitting to the betrayer Bp. Fellay (when Fr. Chazal tried to talk with Bp. Tissier) ? -- see telefax from Bp. Tissier posted somewhere here on Cathinfo.
With his telefax Bp. Tissier showed that he chose the side of "Operation ѕυιcιdє", not the side "Operation Survival".

I heard Bp. Tissier preaching in Fulda, Germany, some weeks ago. His sermon was totally ignoring the reality of the dying SSPX. He talked about the glory of the SSPX and being a work of God, etc etc etc like Archbishop Lefebvre would still be living and be superior general.

That's like living in a dream world -- a very faithful dream world, but disconnected from the real world including the real Neo-SSPX.

Bishop Williamson is the only bishop far and wide who faithfully upholds the work of Archbishop Lefebvre by word and deed. God bless him!

(And I will have to uphold this rating until Bp. Tissier puts into operation what he must do: openly oppose the betrayers in Menzingen who're the gravediggers of the SSPX.)

Disagree with one point. [/i]Bishop Williamson needs to consecrate bishops very soon. Not wait. To wait is to risk a complete failure.

Carefully chosen, prudent men of gravitas, virtue and solid in the Faith.

It would not be well for Bishop Williamson to wait years before consecrating more Bishops to continue Operation Survival.  God may not give him years.  No doubt, many wish he were already dead so he could not create more bishops.

He says he remains in the SSPX.  I cannot see the value of such a statement.

Bishop Tissier hopes to ignore his way to heaven by ignoring what God wants of him in this time of crisis for Tradition.  The SSPX is nothing once its leadership reconciles the membership to an apostate heirarchy where there are few valid sacrements, few valid priests, few valid bishops, but much heresy, love of the world and sensuality in place of spirituality.

Ah, but the good Bishop Williamson already is following in the footsteps of Archbishop Lefebvre.
So what do you think about this sentence, dear Wessex:

Yes, the bishop has to follow in the footsteps of ABL ....and create a bishop who will, too!

As he still considers himself a member of the Society, he may not create a alternative organisation but may use his remaining years undermining the leadership from outside this time. Mentally, he may be reluctant to make a complete break. In which case, the creation of a bishop to succeed him is less likely.

Francisco, this letter was written in 2009. Since then the bishop's position in the Society worsened. However, I still feel there is still a great reluctance to start a rival organisation. I have to apply my Englishman's mind to the mind of another Englishman. His time to do something was in 2003 when he was exiled from Winona or when he failed to win the contest for SG. He may well brood away thinking how to outsmart the current leadership and influence the laity behind the scene. The SSPX is too much in his blood.

  • God provides. He has no need of us to unfold His Providence. If Abp. Lefevbre had never created the SSPX, God would have raised another. What He is up to now, we can't know. All we can do is as Bp. Williamson always said is; "follow truth, and not personalities".

Trust in God, follow truth, don't despair. Take action as if everything depended on you, but pray even more, becaise everything depends on God.

I don't agree at all, Wessex, speaking as an Englishwoman!

    1. He didn't have adequate reasons for acting in 2003, nor would his reasons been clear. He would have been accused of thwarted ambition.

    2. He is not a man to brood away behind the scenes and must now feel that attempts to outsmart (influence/persuade?) the current leadership have now been exhausted.

    3. He knows how to put the Faith before the SSPX, as his Eleison Comments clearly show. He's the last man to be influenced by sentimentality. Nor will he sacrifice his loyalty to the legacy of Archbishop Lefebve to an attachment to the outward forms of the SSPX.

    4. HOWEVER, no new bishops can be consecrated until it's clear who is available. Time is needed to show which priests throughout the world will remain faithful to tradition. Bishop Fellay's actions with regard to Rome in the next two or three months may be a catalyst - also regarding Bishop Tissier. Until then we must be patient!

  • Since the SSPX was a pious association (not a religious order) whose canonical charter long ago expired, the current SSPX has NO canonical status or authority, hence Bp. Fellay has only the authority arrogated by him and acceded to him. Bp. Fellay has NO more canonical jurisdiction and authority than a layman, certainly NO legitimate authority to expel anyone.
