Dear Bishop Fellay,
For the greater glory of God, for the love of the Truth, for the good of the Church, for the widespread dissemination of charity, and for the salvation of souls, I ask you in all sincerity to please resign, immediately, from the office of Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X.
Please, for the love of God and souls.
Please.
And I pray for you.

Why not use his whole name, Bishop Bernard Fellay, SSPX?
-
Someone on the Ignis Ardens forum asked "Why?"
Without going into the long list of reasons why Bp. Fellay should resign,
can we not say:
That when a Bishop calls for a Holy Rosary crusade and his faithful flock doubt his intentions, it means he's lost their spritual confidence and should promptly resign.

Incredulous, I am incredulous. You have now come out as a vile Liberal Catholic, if not a Masonic plant.
+F is answerable to God, not to his flock, much less to the likely rather small percentage of his flock that has lost confidence in him.
-
-
Yes, Mr. McFarland, he is answerable to God. As are we all. Mothers and Fathers for their children, wives and husbands for their spouses, teachers for their students, presidents for their nations, priests for their flock, bishops for their priests, Superiors for the societies they govern, and the Pope for not just the Catholic world, but the entire world. All are big responsibilities in that they pertain to our duty of state, and hence, our salvation. It's just that some are responsible for a larger number of souls. Now, pray tell, what gives you the right to judge Incredulous a freemason? Who put you over her soul?
-
of course bf is anserable to his flock, he didnt just sweep us up from the street, he inherited us..... and acceped responsibilty... as a bishop should, that he has changed course, and the flock are in confusion...is down him.... he is answerable for us...

Well, the problem put in a nutshell!
I think this is from the same lady who enriches Cathinfo since a few days with very traditional Catholic posts?

Magdalena,
The Mason "charge" was a joke in the service of making a serious point. Incredulous' line of argument seems to assume that the view of the ruled has some dispositive role in what +F should do. What Catholics believe is that authority comes from God. In some cases (a nation like the U.S., for example) the people choose its leaders, and their representatives can remove those leaders from office. Neither of these is the case regarding bishops.
Of course, Incredulous is not the only American who confuses American and Catholic. It is universal in the MO, and scandalously high among traditionalists. It is particularly scandalously high among Fellayophobes, who tend to think that the truth is what most of them are yelling at any particular time.
But while we're on the subject, how do many of the denizens of this site dare to say all kinds of awful things about Bishop Fellay without an ounce of credible evidence?
P.S. Incredulous is a woman? Again, I'm incredulous. I'm not used to that level or style of vituperation among the daughters of Eve, and I've known some tough feminine cookies in my time. But I suppose if a few woman can be accomplished drag racers, a few women can be accomplished Fellayophobe bomb-throwers.

thats nasty!

Hmmm, I won't bother to quote all the evidence (of record), but recently the resident "librarian" of the 'other' list compiled quite a stack. How ever did you manage to miss it all McFarland?

As to Incredulous being a woman.... I have no idea what gender Incredulous is. It was a mistake I made by looking at the signature on the letter Incredulous was quoting--if that makes any difference. My apologies to Incredulous. In addition, I don't see anything very vituperous (berating) or "bomb-throwing" about it. But it's interesting that you do.

I feel that Bishop Fellay should resign for several reasons.
1) Archbishop Lefevbre DID NOT WANT a bishop as Superior General of the SSPX in the first place, so as not to give ANY of the SSPX bishops some kind of supreme mantle of authority, as exhibited by Bishop Fellay right now. A priest or a layperson was supposed to be in that position, and Bishop Fellay is entirely AWARE of this fact.
2) He admits to being "deceived" by BXVI. There are other priests who would not be so unwise to even dialogue with the Vatican until they've come back to the Faith entirely and without asking for any compromise except to be forgiven for being misled by the Devil himself.
3) Being in the position he's in, he is causing massive rifts among the faithful of the SSPX. Since the "conditions" were leaked, it's obvious that he is not doing what is in the best interests of the Society.
For these 3 reasons (and probably more if I thought of it a bit more), it's not hard to figure out that this is the best course of action for the Society and the rest of the faithful Catholics NOT part of the Society that he represents. Step down, with all due respect, Bishop Fellay, and let someone that is NOT a bishop be the Superior General. You will gain some of the respect you have lost, and continue with Archbishop Lefevbre's mission: THE SALVATION OF SOULS THROUGH THE ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC, AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH, OUTSIDE OF WHICH THERE IS NO SALVATION.

Regarding your point #1, how can a layperson be a Superior General of a priestly fraternity? It doesn't make sense!
-
It's not that a layperson -should- have that position. It was the fact that a bishop -should not- have that position for the very reason I mentioned. Obviously preferable to Archbishop Lefevbre, was that a priest should be in charge. If a bishop is in charge, the exact circuмstance the SSPX is in right now is a result of it. Exactly what he feared could happen is happening.
The bishops were not supposed to be Superior General so as not to give off an idea of supreme authority over the Society. Fellay is not in charge of the bishops. He's not their "boss" you could say. But, he is giving off the vibe that he is their boss, precisely by his reaction to Bishop Williamson going down to Brazil and DOING HIS JOB. Having to ask "permission" to confirm people, and he knows this, is absolutely ridiculous. Bishop Williamson is doing his divine duty. He doesn't need to ask Fellay's permission to do this.
Also, it sends a confusing message, as if he's overlord of some sect. If you had a priest in this position, there would be no such confusion.

max...... is a layperson... isnt he....?

max...... is a layperson... isnt he....?
Max Krah is a layperson who works so closely with the SSPX superior general's 1st assistant Fr. Niklaus Pfluger, that Krah even writes text docuмents for Fr. Pfluger which the latter then just refines and directly uses as official docuмents within the SSPX.
(And Krah does try to do so with other superiors, too, namely the German district superior Fr Schmidberger. That's why many of the German district's official publications read like they've been directly written by Krah.)
Now Fr. Pfluger in-turn directly influences the superior general Bp Fellay so intensively, that experienced district superiors (plural!) upon request say this to you privately: Without Fr Pfluger, Bp Fellay wouldn't survive his office for two weeks.
I don't want to downplay the heavy blame of Bp Fellay. Because objectively (not necessarily subjectively) he's guilty of having betrayed the work of Archbishop Lefebvre to the modernistic Newrome, see his unmasking letter dated 14 April 2012 in reply to the serious letter of the three bishops dated 7 April 2012 (http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php/Letter-of-Three-SSPX-Bishops-to-Bishop-Fellay). And he sold out the SSPX to the oldest enemies of our Lord, the anti-Christian and perfidious Jews, and their controlled vile media, by teaming up with them in 2009 in order to verbally slaughter Bishop Williamson and his friends in the SSPX.
Having said this, there's a massive influence from the ѕуηαgσgυє of Satan through their mole Krah (a layperson) to Fr Pfluger (maybe just an ordinary priest) and other superiors, and then to Bp Fellay (a bishop).
So I think it's difficult to tell how many forces really lead the SSPX. Is that why they want to join Newrome because it's also not always clear how many persons lead the Newchurch?
One weak leader + another weak leader = one strong leader? I don't think so!

I don't think so. +Fellay regardless of his episcopal dignity is the Superior General. Before +Fellay, it was Fr. Schmidberger, and before that it was +Lefebvre. I just don't get your point about having a layperson being the SG of the Society. I do agree with you that it was +Lefebvre's will that no bishop is made the SG.
-
Methinks there is more to it than simply Fellay. Even if he did step down, with all the rats that have been placed in the General Assembly (or whatever it's called) by him, it's likely that the Society would get the same kind of problem child that Fellay is.
This is a war. Strategies are being used, just as they would in a war situation. I know what will happen if Fellay makes some kind of deal: I will be watching Bishop Williamson very carefully to see what he will do. Whatever he decides to do, it's pretty likely that is what should be done.
