  • Good morning:

I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the events of May 11th and 12th. The winds and heavy rains and traces of rolling thunder and flashes of lightening off in the distance made for a very dramatic setting. And while uncomfortable--we Catholics were not made for comfort, but to be set apart.

I am especially grateful to have gotten the opportunity to meet so many of you.

I would like to track down as many of the people I met as I can. I would like to stay in contact as much as possible. I was able to give out my business card and get some contact info from some of the people I met, but not nearly as many as I would have liked. If you recognize me, send me a note, stay in touch, and know that you will always be welcome in Limerick, PA (outside of Philadelphia).

And while I realize in these times it may be difficult (if not futile) to forge a community of like minded and faithful Catholics (especially when the sheperd is struck) I think it is still helpful to do what we can, where we are, with what limited resources we have to stay connected. It will be the great difficulty, challenge, and mission of my life to raise a strong Catholic family. It is difficult (and by every human measure nearly impossible) to raise up strong Catholic families without strong Catholic community (not to mention, society, government, and so many other treasures of Catholic civilization long gone in our history, but that modern man in his wickedness takes for granted and still basks in like the light of a distant star that has long since ceased to be).

I am very new to tradition. I was born and raised within the Novus Ordo. However, I was raised within a family that always had strong Catholic instincts. So my awakening to the crisis in the Church really was a lifetime in the making, but only accelerated and came to its fruition in the last 12 months.

By that time Archbishop Lefebvre became a saint in my eyes, but I was reluctant to attend an SSPX chapel. I tried to find a "resistance" Mass. Then, through a series of what can be only seen in my eyes looking back as providential events I was able to contact Father Ortiz, who called me and gave me the information for this online forum. Then to my surprise I received a call from Bishop Zendejas (at the time Father Zendejas). I am very blessed and grateful for this.

Where I live, I am the only traditional Catholic that I know (even within my own house). Pray for me brothers and sisters. I will be praying for all of you!

God bless you and God bless the four bishops. Vivo Cristo Rey!

I don't think I met you while you were here.  But, I was kept rather busy busy between choir and playing music for the 2nd day's potluck.  (Thanks to the others from here you pitched in and brought their instruments as well!)
I am the only traditional Catholic in my family.  So, I can understand where you are coming from...  It can certainly be a battle.  But, will certainly do our best to persevere, spread hope amongst the faithful, and keep fighting the good fight for the glory of God and salvation of souls!

And this is called the +Zendejas coat of arms?
    .
    Correct?
    .
I take it this is +Zendejas' motto?  Or is it Vivat Cristus Rex (Long Live Christ the King)?
    .
I suspect the latter is a pious exclamation, like "Ite ad Ioseph" (Go to [St.] Joseph), but the former is the Bishop's motto.
    .
I need help with the 8 crests at the top: are they family crests? If so, what are the family names?
    .
Thank you Mater Domenici for the nice image quality. I really appreciate it!
    .
It's high time a good bishop stood up and proclaimed (with his coat of arms) the special and singular grace that Mexico has been blessed with regarding the Virgen de Guadalupe.
    .
Certainly in years past these things have been said but in recent years it has been all but forgotten, and this vacuum has been filled at least to some degree by heretics and non-Catholics using Our Lady's Image for ulterior motives, such as a political banner for Mexican aggression. So this is a very good thing. The Church needs to reclaim that which is hers.

Your message is good to read. Welcome to Tradition!
    .
This is a commonly found case that you are all alone. I can stand on top of a local hill and see literally millions of people's homes and businesses, and a considerable number of these are Catholics but they are largely unaware of the crisis in the Church or have no idea that Traditional Catholicism is still alive and well.
    .
The day will come when our children will ask us how this could have happened, and we had better be ready to tell the story because we lived through it, and if we can't tell it then their children won't believe that it happened according to the books that have been written if nobody alive can tell them they were there.
    .
COUNT IT AS NO SMALL MATTER THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED THIS GRACE OF AWARENESS.
    .
And God bless you for acting courageously on the actual grace of conversion. Congratulations!

  • Any estimate on the number of people who attended? None of the pictures really give any indication of it.
    .
The new Eleison Comments from +W estimates 500 persons at the Episcopal Consecration and a somewhat smaller attendance at the First Mass and Consecration of Russia the following day.

    Statement - Diocese of Arlington

    :jester:

    .
Do not let the irony be lost on this thing: the St. Athanasius Church where the Consecrations took place is named after a bishop who was persecuted by the Arians not much differently than our present 4 bishops are being persecuted (with lies) by Newchurch bishops.

What happened in 1571 regarding la Virgen de Guadalupe?
    .
Her appearance was in 1531, and the official Roman approval took until 1666 (135 years).

If so, what are the family names?[NEIL: I might be able to help "translate","decipher", one of those crests,i.e., the red one with chains on the second row. If memory serves me well the chains represent the Fall of Granada, the Moors last stronghold in Spain. Ferdinand and Isabella freed the Catholic slaves and brought those chains back with them to Toledo, the spiritual and ancient city/capitol of España and had them hung on the outside walls of a church they built and in which they were first buried before their remains were translated to their present and final resting place in the Cathedral of Granada. I suppose those chains represent the end of the reconquest of Spain. I have seen them years ago and guess that they are still hanging there, exposed to the weather. I'll try to find you the name of the church.]

  • Motorede,
You caught on rather well with the symboles!

I don't remember everything +Zendejas said but here is a bit of what is remembered:

The words "Viva Christus Rex" and the crucifix at the top are because Jesus Christ is King by conquest. He has conquered sin/death and is the rightful King of the Jєωs and of the whole world.

The four flags on the left hand side of the viewer are the representations of Spain, and as already stated in an above post, the flag of Granada is also there because it was the last step to unifying the lands under Christian rule. It was the defeat of Islam and the Jєωs. Also, it is the representation of his ancestral homeland, as the name "Zendejas" comes from some town in the region.

I don't remember much about the flags on the left but, one of them has something to do with +Williamson, as he is the one who made him a bishop. And if memory serves correctly the one on the far right on the top is from Lorain, because his grandparents come from there, and the fleur de lis is a symbol for St. Jone of Arc... thats all I remember for tge flags...

The double headed eagle is a symbol/crest given to Mexico by a pope - was it Benedict XIV (14th)? - and has one head of an European eagle and one of a Mexican eagle. It represents that the Faith was brought from Europ, but Mary is in the center because SHE is the one responsible for it!

"Ite ad Joseph" should obviously state his devotion to  St. Joseph, Defendor of the Church, Defendor of the Blessed Virgin and the Christ Child. It is also good to remember what the Saints often say: "If you pray to St. Joseph, you often get more then you asked for!"

The date 1571 is for the Battle of Lepanto, where - humanly speaking- Christianity should have been obliterated but instead had a glorious victory against the enemies of God and His Church.

The date 1917 is obviously for the apparitions of Mary at Fatima.

That is all I remember. But to close here is is a quote from the Bishop: "Christ must reign! He is King of the World, King of our hearts, King over our homes, families and society. We must do everything we can to make him King in our lives and put Him first. And we should pray to the Blessed Virgen Mary, and ask her to give us the graces we need to do it, and the grace of perseverance, so that one day we can all be together in that happy place, which is our true home, Heaven."

(He has ended a LOT of sermons in like manner.)
Many people say "For the Honor and Glory of God!" but, what they should say is "For the Love, Glory and Honor of God". - Fr. Paul of Moll

  • NON FECIT TALITER OMNI NATIONI:

He Did Not Do So with Any [other] Nation

I strongly suspect that--for starters--you've chosen the wrong sex gender, i.e., the tiny shield's marginal text should be translated approximately thus:

"She [i.e.: B.V.M.] has not more remarkably helped each nation"[†]

That, I suspect, is a reference to the peasant garment of Guadalupe, which stands by itself as (Marian) evidence that's been shown repeatedly to be far beyond the technical means of the time in which it was presented.  Which is physically far more compelling than the Marian evidence that any other nation has recieved.

    -------
    Note †:
    "fac·io, -ĕre, fēc·i, fact·um": intrans.+dat.: "to assist, to help".
"tal·is, -e": adj. "of such a [special] kind, remarkable", except that "-iter" indicates that it was a comparative adverb, and must have its translation adjusted accordingly.
"omn·is, -e": adj. "all, every, whole"; as sing. "each, every one" (out of many).

    .
I especially liked hearing the Magnificat immediately following the consecration of Russia (in the video - I wasn't able to attend). We do it the same way in our chapel (alternating unison for odd verses and harmony for even verses, as interpreted from the St. Gregory Hymnal, No. 216).
    .
I can't imagine a more appropriate hymn for that occasion. Good choice, and good job!
    .
Something really funny happened today. Last week we gave pitches for our recessional hymn but the alto was mistakenly played an octave too high and the sopranos said they couldn't hear their pitch, so for the first verse we had no melody, only a weak alto, with tenor and bass singing louder to make up for the missing sopranos. Then for the second verse the sopranos came in all right. Some of us made some jokes about that after Mass, like "Next time we sing that, we'll have a chance to redeem ourselves" and "That's what you get for leaving the keyboard in the trunk!"
    .
Then today, a member of the congregation sought me out to tell me how nice the recessional sounded last week, with the nice, deep tone at the beginning. I said, "But our sopranos were missing by MISTAKE. It wasn't intentional." She assured me that whatever we did, it sounded really nice.
    .
Go figure! Sometimes even blunders get cleaned up by some unseen influence.
