  • My apologies for any confusion about a possible live broadcast. Mea culpa. The day before heading to VA I thought it might be possible to set up a live feed, but once I got to the venue, I discovered it would not be practical, while still being able to record the ceremony at a high enough quality.

  • Any photos, videos, or first hand reports of the consecration which took place today?

It is surprising with the plethora of smart phones and mobile internet access that nothing has come out yet. I admit my expectations are probably formed by the instant communication word we live in. :-[

It seems to me, that Brazil is far more technological advanced, than the U.S. From Bishop Faure's consecration many good quality pictures were just a few hours past the ceremony available.
In the U.S. - nothing comparable. Is there no internet in Vienna? Nobody ever heard of "Periscope",...?
At least Matthew has posted a very short video on "YouTube" (thanks! :applause:):

  • Just FYI: I had planned to take extensive video of the consecration, but there were signs there saying no video or audio recording allowed. While I could have covertly still videotaped parts of it, when that type of request is made I always respect it, and so did not take any video or audio. I took a good number of photos though.

  • The weather was horrible. It was cold, rainy and muddy and made it pretty miserable physically. Although that's basically the weather pattern that always seems to come around for the Priestly Ordinations in Winona too, just minus the cold.

  • For what reason was A/V recording forbidden?
    .
Especially in a day and age where so many clerics are spuriously ordained or consecrated, the more proof the better!  It's important for clerics to be able to ease the minds of those who approach them for sacraments, especially if they are coming from without.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

I'm pretty sure official video was taken, they just didn't want everybody taking there own video or audio. Why that is I can't say for sure, but I thought it might be so that stuff can't be "cherry-picked".

  • It's a consecration.  What's there to cherry pick?
