MD:
I understand that a rather large lay organization in France has officially cut ties with the SSPX. They were described to me as comprising of a good number of right-leaning SSPX laity in France.
First: What is "right-leaning SSPX laity" mean? Does that exclude the 'left-leaning SSPX laity,' who, as long as they see their smells and bells preserved, will go along with practically anything that Fellay & Co. do?
Secondly: That is exactly what hundreds of SSPX laity need to do in the U.S. Much of the SSPX laity in the U.S., IMO, are just laid back, Sunday-going Catholics of the fifties, exactly as +Williamson characterized the pre-V2 laity.
I've got a good friend, who was deeply devoted to Bp. Williamson. He collected and listened to all the tapes of the bishop's sermons. He swore by everything that H.S. said and wrote. However, the moment that H.E. was expelled from Fellay's group, he changed his tune. He continues going 70 plus miles each Sunday to an SSPX Mass. When the name Bp. Williamson comes up in polite conversation, this friend grows very uncomfortable and fidgety. Obviously, he doesn't want to talk about it. There are, it seems, hundreds of such wishy washy SSPX laity here in the U.S. I don't care if you call them "right-leaning," or 'left-leaning' SSPX. They need to get a backbone and either fish or cut bait, IMO, or simply back to the NO.
Please, you French, send some of your lay people over to us. We'd be happy to give you in return all the French priest sycophants and Fellay-controlled zombies who seem to infest our U.S. SSPX piories.
