It seems the sspx made a huge mistake in expelling bp. Williamson. Now flocks of people are abandoning the sspx. I think fellay should apologize and ask bp. Williamson to come back to the sspx

DS - I must admit it is sad that Bp. Williamson was expelled from the SSPX, but I don't think I have heard of any serious amount of people leaving the SSPX. Do you have any examples in mind?

That could never happen and it would make no difference, the SSPX of old is gone. It will never return to what it was. Even with an entirely new leadership it cannot return to its former integrity. There are generations or priests who have been formed in the new orientation and who think differently. One would have to send them all back to seminary and attempt to reform them, impossible.

It is time to move beyond the idea of resurrecting the SSPX. Their course has been unalterably set in another direction.

The losses have been calculated by Bishop Fellay and found to be acceptable. The Society will be pleased to shed the faithful who demand rigor in doctrine and adherence to Tradition. They are building for a new generation of Faithful. One which is younger and more attuned to the world of today and one which is unlikely to find changes and modernizations unacceptable.

I have not lost hope that the SSPX can return to its former stance against modernism. If/when it does so the more liberal among them would find a home in the FSSP. I continue to pray that +Fellay will step down which would allow the SSPX to rebuild and reclaim its place in the fight against modernism.

That is a pipe-dream. It is like trying to take the poison back out of the Kool-Aid.........you'll never get all of it. The contamination is permanent.

The liberals at the helm do not want a different ship-------they want to drive this one their way, and they are strong, apparently stronger than the remaining shipmates.

Dear Marsha,

The whole of the problems no longer reside exclusively in Bishop Fellay and his council. The modernism and liberal though has been propagated and infused into many of the priests and faithful. Too many to readjust to the old way of thinking. We have seen many of their brightest and best reaffirming and defending the aberrations which have occurred in recent years. The backbone of the Society has been broken and its high ground surrendered.

The SSPX as many knew it is gone. The points that Marlelar raises are honest and are addressed in the latest edition of The Recusant.

Earlier today I stood outside the SSPX chapel in Athlone. I didn't go in but will pray for those who continue to assist at SSPX chapels.
