    • Would not be so aware of the Vendee’ massacre, were it not that my neighbor is a direct descendent of the General de Charette, who led their army.

    Found a video, circa 2012 that provided more historical data to prove it was a demonic genocide of 20th Century proportions.

    Noticed in Henry’s preface, he included a bit of a contradiction: He said that the losses on both sides were “enormous”, then went on to say the Vendee was almost “depopulated”?

    The recent French historical research is proposing that over 2.5million women, elderly and children were slaughtered wholesale by the Revolutionary army.

    This occurred after General de Charette was defeated and executed.

It was fortunate that, with the Blues [Republicans] gone, some charitable passersby delivered them from this shameful torment. Elsewhere, in a refinement of barbarism, perhaps without precedent, pregnant women were stretched out and crushed beneath wine presses....Bloody limbs and nursing infants were carried in triumph on the points of bayonets."
