One must not be so naive about newcomers to the West. To the outside world, the streets of America (and Europe) are paved with gold. The 'college visa' route is a notorious backdoor entry point; once inside the country impressionable young minds decover the 'delights' around them and eventually vanish. America is full of 'illegals'.
Better no seminary if this is the only way to fill it. Have we run out of French candidates? American/European sensitivities have to be considered otherwise they will vote with their feet.

This is an interesting post. I have been in the SSPX Asia District for 20 years, and, apart from Fr Onoda's ( he's Japanese) relatively recent appointment as the Prior of Manila, Asian sensitivities have never been taken into account when appointing Priors. These are always either French or Americans. A Misfits Parade could be drawn up of the SSPX priests assigned to India who subsequently left the Society or even the Priesthood altogether. What were the thinking Indian Trads to do when confronted with these misfits in cassock? They wanted the Mass, and there being no other alternative whatsoever, the SSPX being the only TLM people in India, were unable to " vote with their feet". However, some of the group in Mumbai, during Fr Chazal's tenure as Prior there, decided to bite the bullet and become "Home Alone" Traditional Catholics.

Considering the fears expressed by Wessex, Fr J. Pfeiffer's discernment of prospective seminary entrants will be crucial. But please do not be too optimistic in this regard. In his time in India he had 3 "certs" as vocations to the Priesthood. The first was his Indian Pablo-in Chief ( now married with a child ), and the other two were the sons of his Pablo of our Mass Center, both of whom are in employment now. But so much mileage was gained by all those concerned with these prospective priests; all of whom I had suspected from day-one to be duds.

What does Fr. Pfeiffer have to say to young men who are planning to
enroll at Winona in the fall?  Does it depend on the individual?  Is the
curriculum different this year from last?  Is there any way of knowing
how it might change next year?  Things like that...............

-As Fr. Schell used to say.

I don't know what Father Pfeiffer says  about this, because he does not follow these posts. But I'll guess that he'll say the red light is definitely lit! Why would anyone go to Winona (or the new albatross in Virginia) now?  father LeRoux has already admitted that it is SSPX position that the SSPX priests GET THEIR MISSION from the Novus Ordo Diocesan bishops. Another words, traditional Catholic Moms and dads ( and their brothers, sisters, uncles, aunt and grand parents) sacrifice to send a young man to Winona to be taugh traditional Catholic theology, the traditional catholic faith, the beauties of the Catholic Mass, etc. And in Winona, they are instructed by leaders and professors who believe that the local ordinary ( like the leftist, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ -loving and cross-dressing guy down the street they call a bishop) is the one chosen by Almighty God to give a mission to this new ( SSPX) Traditional Catholic priest !!
Bishop Fellay has already said he accepts the Vatican Council; He has already said he accepts the ntion of religious liberty; he has promised that he acepts the magisterium of the communist lover Paul VI, the leftist John-Paul II, and the modernist BenedictXVI. Bishop Fellay has already said he accepts the teachings of the liberation theologist "call me  Jorge (whore-hay)" Francis. Bishop Fellay has already stated that the Archbishop was mistaken to found a seminary, and ordain priests, and consecrate Bishops.( He told a cardinal in Italy"If Arbp Lefebvre had seen you this (novus ordo) celebration in Florence (in 20011/12), HE NEVER WOULD HAVE DONE WHAT HE DID!
Therefore, why would anyone go yo any seminary run by Bishop Fellay, Fr. Rostand, or Fr. LeRoux? Those three each believe that there is truly no mission for the SSPX outside the modernists in Rome. Why would any poarent send their boys to the wolves?
Bishop Morello has a fine seminary in South America; there is a seminary in Nebraska which has a good reputation; Fr, Pfeiffer may start a seminary in Kentucky;why recommend that anyone go to Winona? In Winona, you will be put into a strait-jacket, your mouth will ne clamped closed, and your freedom to think and analyze will be put on ice. In Winona-- there is one gospel-- that of Rostand and Fellay. There is one mission-- that of joining the sodomites in the dioceses. And there is one over-riding order: no criticizing he novus ordo, the perverted bishops, the bastard mass, or the hi-jacked ( anti-catholic) church.save the sspx from destruction from the top

As a result, Father Pfeiffer thinks that a good estimate of the number of seminarians for this coming October is five.

I heard that the number is 20 now. Maybe somebody could verify this.

And indeed it's becoming an international traditional Catholic seminary.
Some seminarians are also coming from Old Europe.
Apparantly there will be three constant professors (this is good) and two European ones who will come in regular intervals to do block instruction (a veteran one and a younger one).

Maybe somebody has got more detailled information about this. When I heard it, it sounded very well. And there's more persons interested in the seminary, so maybe even more candidates.

God bless Bishop Williamson and the other brave clerics who keep up the Faith!

Wow! That is good. I hope the resistance grows and does not stagnate like the SSPV did.
