  • We will be hosting a Resistance priest in Dec/Jan and I'd like to know interest in arranging a public Mass in our area.  Most likely it would be in Paducah, Kentucky which would be a hundred mile radius of:

    Cape Girardeau, MO
    Evansville, IN
    Clarksville, TN
    Centralia, IL

    Thanks.

  • Sounds good. A lot of people in the area will need it. The US is vastly under served.

Well, I banned "blueman" so I can't expect a response from him, so I'll just point out --

There seems to be some Pfeiffer nonsense under the surface here. Remember Fr. Pfeiffer would spread himself all over the country, saying Mass in far-flung places, once a year or less, even for 1 or 2 families. He tried to be a single priest serving the whole *world* not just the USA. It was imprudent and insane. A priest can't solve the Crisis in the Church, and he needn't apologize for the Crisis OR the fallout that came from it.

Having the Mass reduced in number (or even taken away, eventually) is a punishment from God. You don't blame individual priests (or bishops) who are doing their best. You can't blame them for the Crisis being solved (as I just said the other day) and you also can't blame them for the suffering of this or that family that doesn't have a Mass near them.

When you start having the attitude "IIIIIII am going to solve this Crisis. The buck stops here!" that's how you end up with insanity like a seminary run by a warlock, dealing with invalid bishops, a "seminary" with little to no discipline, hosting con-men (Ambrose Moran) to say Mass for your "seminary", poorly trained priests ordained by questionable bishops -- and making the Crisis actually worse.

There are worse fates than not having a Mass in your area. How about a priest under the influence of a literal warlock, a man in league with the devil? How about a priest who hasn't had adequate discipline and spiritual training -- and falls into gross sins, like happened in the 1400s?

The Protestants weren't completely crazy for rebelling, remember. They observed priests selling indulgences, living with women, and being totally ignorant of the Faith. They were scandalized, and reacted poorly to it. But you can't blame them for being scandalized. That's why the COUNCIL OF TRENT -- which cleaned up that crisis and truly REFORMED the Catholic Church after the Protestant revolt -- declared that henceforth, priests would be formed in "seminaries" which involve years of training not only in doctrine but also in the spiritual life, discipline, etc. And superiors could watch each candidate to make sure he is suitable for the priesthood.

Because before Trent, men would just follow a priest around and "learn the craft" like an apprentice learns from a master. As one could imagine, it was incredibly HIT-and-MISS, but mostly MISS.

  • When you start having the attitude "IIIIIII am going to solve this Crisis. The buck stops here!"

That attitude comes from the implicit notion that the Catholic Church = the Pfeiffer cult, and that anyone who doesn't agree with every one of their positions is not Catholic, i.e. where all other Traditional groups, organizations, etc. are red-lighted and not really Catholic.
