Some thoughts to consider.
After a night of thinking about my post I have had time to analyse myself and others reaction to my post. First let me say that I certainly didn't intend to scandalize anyone or bamboozle anyone either. The manipulated photo was never intended to fool people into believing it was real. It was simply an artistic expression to convey an idea. The pictures of the Assisi meeting in 1986 are well known to the Catholic world, especially those in tradition. Also, bishop Falley wasn't even a bishop in 1986. Everyone should know that.
I have formal training in the arts and I use art in everyday life. In art, we are trained to analyse from many points of view and ask questions in regards to meaning. This isn't just a modern art thing. It's an important process of ascertaining a deeper meaning. We live in a world of images and unfortunately we rarely ask questions about what we are seeing. This is why the public is so easily manipulated by images.
So what was my intention. What was the Assisi meeting all about? It was a grand spectacle intended to demonstrate the modernist desire to shift Catholic teaching from the truth of Catholicism to be the only true and sure path to heaven to it's one of many valid paths to heaven. Now Bishop Felley's insertion into the photo is meant to show the inherent contradiction of the SSPX's shifted position towards modernist Rome. Assisi was a pivotal event that lead to ABL's decision to consecrate bishops without direct permission of the Pope.
These events also lead to the position ABL took in regards to how it would deal with Rome. Essentially, Rome has lost the faith and we must keep a hedge to protect the priest and the faithful from adopting the modernist sickness. After ABL's death, the leadership of the SSPX slowly began a change in that position. Much of the hedge was systematically removed behind the scenes. The most staunch defenders of the hedge were also set aside. Slowly but surely, the modernist rotten fruit (scandals) began creeping into the SSPX.
In the old days, the SSPX was a dependable shepherd by which the faithful could rely on to give good instruction on the errors of the modern world. Today, it feels like that light has been covered and we no longer have that faithful guide in this world of darkness. Covid and the latest Charlie Kirk incident are good examples. In the old days, we could rely on the SSPX to analyse these kinds of events and give a sound analysis on who, what, when, and where the enemy was. Now we get mostly sermons on obedience of some sort or another. In other words, we've been brought into the meeting of Assisi.
I could very well be wrong. What do I know? I'm just demonstrating what I see as a contradiction through the use of artistic license. Again, I had no intention to deceive anyone. Yes, the title is provocative and it was meant to be tongue in cheek. I am sorry for any ruffled feathers. It wasn't my intention to slander but I can see how it could be interpreted that way. Please accept my apologies.
